Beastly Mage

Kabuto Yakushi

Everybody's favorite Sound Spy is back with new text. Now the text says he can't be affected by your opponent's Jutsus that target him. On top of that it's a valid effect. It's still pretty good. But, is he still as good as before? That will just have to be seen. With the new Kakashis having Mental Power of 3... Kabuto's got his work cut out for.

Ratings:

Limited: 4/5
Constructed: 5/5

Kabuto Yakushi(Covert Operative).  This is one of three Kabutos that is widely used.  The other two being the turn 2 versions, Withdrawal, and I believe Information Gathering.  This version was released in Revenge in Rebirth, and saw quite a bit of play after that, and though its seen a little less play, it is still one of the best ninjas in the game.  First of all, it is a turn 5 water Jonin, with 2 mental power, medical, and is a 6/3,2/2.  Those characteristics make it a very good choice in a water deck, since it can not only play the high level jutsus, but also has a little mental power to combat against Mental decks.  His healthy stats are good, while his injured are just slightly under par, but still a decent amount of support.  The thing that really makes him great though, is his effect.  Valid:This ninja is not affected by any of the jutsu cards that target it.  This means that he is totally immune(almost) to all of your opponent's jutsus.  Trigram, nope.  SA, nope.  Vortex, nope.  Great Breakthrough, nope.  However, due to the wording of Chidori(R&R), the extra damage effect(and any similar effect) will affect him, because he is not being specifically targeted by the jutsu.  His immunity, along with Jonin status make him the perfect candidate for using Vortex, because you're opponent can only directly negate it then, instead of also having the opportunity to remove the user, indirectly negating the jutsu.

Constructed:4.5/5(water deck)
Limited:4/5(He's a high turn, but good stats, 2 mental, and a great effect make him a no-brainer)

kabuto yakushi

5 turn kabuto with a hand cost, stats of 6/3 2/2, and he is unable to be affected by targetting jutsus.  god that is a very good effect, with over 9000 and standard water decks out there, he can't get vortex'd, he can't be sand tombed, and most importantly,  he is a sound jounin, which gives him the ability to use waters godly jutsus, and can allow him to work with (absorption of the damage) so he can be a very hard ninja to kill when used right

constructed 4/5
limited 4/5 unless you can't pull any water cards...i wonder if thats ever happened
