Alucard of the Abyss

Today we get to number 8 on our top 10 cards of '07 and it's a card that arguably should be higher on the list. It's shaped the meta in ways no card has before.

Today's card is Secret Wood Style: Deep Forest Creation.

There isn't much to say about this card except that it's game winning. The card has single handedly made negation almost necessary to play in main decks for fear of it resolving. A very powerful effect that easily wins the turn it's played on. This comes with a cost however. The only user of the card is The First Hokage and it carries a cost of 2 Earth and one Generic Chakra. The cost is far outweighed by the effect however and some argue that it is too powerful (although with the recent errata and rise of the Sexy Gaara decktype a lot of the ranting about it has died down considerably). One popular combo seen in the typical Earth/Lightning builds of Deep Forest Creation is to use Kunai from Eternal Rivalry prior to using Deep Forest Negation as to ensure that it resolves.

In Limited unless you are using R&R packs or QfP starters or are lucky enough to pull a super rare First Hokage then you obviously pass this up. If you did manage to get at least 2 copies of The First then go ahead and play it.

Constructed: 4.5/5 (It's changed the meta since it's release so it deserves no lower than this)
Limited: 2/5 (only low because of the difficulty of pulling a Jutsu and a user for it)

Tomorrow we look at the best user of this Jutsu card. Stay tuned!
