Naruto Uzamaki and Jiraiya

Here we have the newest play mechanic, Platoons. One of the greatest strengths of platoons is that you can deploy them in addition to a normal ninja; if you happen to have an injured Naruto and Konohamaru, you can get out this guy and Kakashi or another jonin on the same turn; forming multiple, powerful teams of ninjas early is always a good strategy.

It doesn't get much of a stat increase over normal Jiraiya, but it does have the same stats healthy and injured. There's also the possibility of combining it with jutsus and missions that say "Genin or lower" and abusing them, but remember, if it says "Genin only," you can't use it. As a bonus, it even has clone status.

Naruto Uzumaki & Jiraiya (Lightning/Earth)
Leaf/Genin/Sannin/Male/Clone Status/Platoon
Turn Cost 6, Hand Cost 1
Combat/Support: 7/2, 7/2 injured

[Master and Pupil]: While this ninja is in your hand and your village has Naruto Uzumaki in injured status, this gets -1 entrance cost.

Sorry for my lack of reviews in the last weeks, but summer vacay is finally here and you can expect a lot more activity from me. Let's get started with another week of dream legacy!

Here we have one of the several new platoon cards to be released, and it is a powerful one for sure. Naruto and Jiraiya are useful in that for a potential turn 3 ninja (Effect+Konohamaru+Battle in Extreme Conditions), you can have a 7/2 ninja that keeps those stats even when injured. Being a Sannin allows access to any tasty jutsu one could want, and its Oil attribute allows Toad summoning action if need be. The Earth attribute added on doesn't help this Platoon much, as Lighting/Earth is a rare combination, especially when running Narutos. That said, it is definitely wise to platoon off a naruto, as he would be much easier to get out that a Turn 6 Jiraiya would be. I'd say that this card is surely useable, but only in the right deck. Fortunately, this card is a starter deck super and is thus easy to obtain.

Constructed: 3/5: Powerful, but needs the right deck to be spawned first.

Limited: 4/5: If you manage to grab one of the narutos in the set, you're golden!

Monday's card is the Starter deck Naruto Uzumaki and Jiraiya, one of three Platoon Ninja in the new set. This one basically combines all of Jiraiya's and Naruto's stats which include Clone Status for Uzumaki Barrage, Sexy Jutsu and others and Sannin to use any and all Jutsu that requires ninja rank. This ninja has beefy stats at 7/2 which stay the same if injured and can use Summoning Jutsu since it has the Oil attribute and Toad Flame Bullets since it technically has Jiraiya in it. The effect may not really matter since it gets -1 entrance cost if you have an injured Naruto Uzumaki, who may not last until Turn 5 if you played him early. Platoon ninja have to be "Growthed" into play, but usually they are worth it in my opinion. This card should be included in any deck that runs Naruto and Jiraiya (or at least Naruto) especially a Toad deck. I personally like the Platoon mechanic and hope there are more Platoon ninjas out there. This one is a good one.

Limited: 4/5(if you get the Naruto starter, you'll find him useful as a big ninja)
Constructed: 4/5(he's especially good if you run a Toad deck)

Beastly Mage

Naruto Uzumaki & Jiraiya (n204)

Hello there, fellow Pojo-ers. Today's card is from the latest Naruto starter deck. This Platoon Ninja has decent stats. Its effect is also pretty good. If you have an injured Naruto in the village it gets -1 entrance cost. With [Hokage's Grandson] out too, this platoon can hit the field in turn 4 (if you're lucky). It also has the Sannin, Clone Status, and Oil characteristics. It can work in a Ninja Toad deck, as well as one that uses Rasengan (when it comes out).

Naruto Uzumaki & Jiraiya
[MASTER AND PUPIL]
While this Ninja is in your hand and your Village has "Naruto Uzumaki" in injured status, this Ninja gets -1 Entrance cost.

Hello fellow Pojo'ers! Today we have the famous platoon, Naruto Uzumaki & Jiraiya! His effect isn't that bad, but Pervy Sage is better. His stats are a solid 7/2; healthy and injured. According to the Rasengan card picture that has been released, it wouldn't hurt this guy since he has the same stats both ways.

This card is basically only good if you platoon it from Naruto.

Naruto COTD 6-11

Today we look at the first Naruto/Jiraiya platoon and one of the first starter deck exclusive Super Rare’s. Though it’s a solid card, N/J platoon will see very little play for a couple of reasons. 1. It’s just not that good. Though it has good stats and a mediocre effect, most people would rather keep the naruto they have in play, in play, and just play a new jiraiya straight up. 2. The effect isn’t anything special. You don’t gain anything new with this card. It’s lightning/ earth which, for now, is an almost a completely useless chakra combination, and the effect, as with every platoon up to date, isn’t very good. You get to platoon it a turn earlier, the same turn you would be able to play a regular Jiraiya, and platooning is inherently inconsistent. If your run R/J platoon, your not going to be running any Jiraiya’s because that would be incredibly stupid, so if you don’t draw a naruto, this card becomes useless. Overall, the effect is just not worth it and most players would rather have a naruto and Jiraiya in play than this.

Limited: 4/5 (You’re only going to get this from the starter deck in which case you have all the Narutos you need).
Constructed: 2/5 (Nothing special and inherently inconsistent)
Art: 4/5 (I like the picture, and the flavor text is Hilarious!)
