Sound Reflecting Speaker

Card Number: 116
Rarity - U

Review Date: 11.23.06

Average Card Rating: 3.35

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale 1 being the worst.
3 ... average. 5 is the highest rating.

Dark Brago Zeno

Sound Reflecting Speaker

Pros: able to inflict damage

Con: Last for one turn

This is an ok card it has a pretty good making one of your other ninjas a dosu for a turn but like i said it only last for 1 turn so you would need to be careful when you use it otherwise is say side it in your water deck only if you don't have 2 or 3 dosu already since he does basicaly the same thing but is a ninja.

Constructed: 2/5 Only good if you don't have dosu

Limited: 3/5 since most likely you won't have dosu

Rasengan
2theface

Sound Reflecting Speaker

Pro: Two Cost
Potential Damage

Con: Specific Water Cost
No Effect if Ties or Wins

For just two water chakra I can turn a losing batting into a tying battle. Ok, so it’s not always a game winning card but it might get you out of a tight spot. If you’re opponent has a ninja with a super sexy ability that isn’t valid then it’s gone at the end of the turn. You can also add insult to injury and use this on a [My Nindo] Hinata or [Imposter!] Naruto and see them not take damage after a coin flip and your opponent’s ninja tilt for a hit. Use this on a chump blocker, even, and make your opponent wish they hadn’t attacked. This card is even better if you use it with its owner, [Sonic Impact] Dosu, because if he loses then they’re losing their head ninja and that can be BIG. Let’s just say that this is probably one of my favorite cards we’ve reviewed this week because it has so much potential

Constructed: 4/5
Limited: 4.5/5 (only if you’re drafting water and pull Dosu [Sonic Impact] with it)
Art: 3/5

More with water. At least it's not a filler card today.

Today's card:
Name: Sound Reflecting Speaker
Cost: BB
Target: User
Effect: The target's combat attribute is changed to "sound" for this turn. In addition, it gets the following effect during this turn: "If this ninjas team is defeated or completely defeated, give one damage to the head ninja of the team battling against the user"

Ok, one damage to an opposing winning team. This isn't that great, seeing as the only time you'd want to have to use it is in your opponant's turn, and you never know what each opponant will play. So you could be playing this against some form of stall, just having to side it out next game. It's not too bad of a card, but again, there are better choices. It has some chance in limited, though.

It doesn't quite go to 11.

Constructed: 2/5
Limited: 3/5

Sound Reflexing Speaker

The Good

-Easy damage
-No requirements
-Adds an Attribute

The Bad

-Specific cost

The Ugly(review):

Here we have yet another card that supports Sound, and this one is actually worth running! Sound Reflexing Speakers allows you to easily dish out damage for only 2 water chakra, and adds the Sound Combat attribute too...for some odd reason. With this and any of the "Damage Ninja", you can insta kill any head ninja.

Naruto(Prepared to Die)/Dosu(Sound Impact)+Sound Amplifying Speaker=2 damage!

While the ninja has to lose the battle to get this effect, this will generally be used as a chump block jutsu, allowing you to do one damage for only 2 chakra. Only Paper Bomb is that efficient, and it's even harder to depend on. If you're running Water(or sound/Water), then this is going to be in your deck, period.

Constructed: 4/5
Limited: 3.5/5

Stryker

Hello all, and welcome to another exciting installment of....my card review. Yeah...it was very anti-climatic, sorry about that, but now, onto the business at hand! Today's card is called Sound Reflection Speaker:

Sound Reflection Speaker-Uncommon Water Jutsu; Costs: Water-Water
Target: User
Effect: The target's Combat Attribute is changed to "Sound" during this turn. In addition, the target gets the following text during this turn: "If the target's Team is Defeated, or Completely Defeated, give 1 Damage to the Head Ninja that just Battled against the target."

Okay, continuing our lovely Water-themed week, we get a rather interesting uncommon card of the new Curse of Sand set. Sound Reflection Speaker is a card that might fit into most water decks, but may do exceptionally better in a Sound Ninja deck, as this created Dosu Kinuta (the Rare Dosu from Coils of the Snake, that is) effect. What Dosu does for in Ninja form, injuring the Head Ninja that battles it, this Jutsu card does the same, but you get to choose the Ninja on which to use it on. In addition to being able to injure your opponent's Head Ninja, your Combat Attribute also changes to Sound, giving it the potention to use a few other Sound Jutsu's as well, such as Sonic Fang. The cost is 2 Water Chakras, which can be managed. Overall, this card would go excellent in a Sound deck, trying testing out 1 first, see how well it goes, and especially, how often you're able to use it.

Constructed: 3/5 (4/5 in a Sound deck)
Limited: 3/5 (Still a pretty solid secondary effect, the ability to put a hurtin is always good)

Silas

Ugh. I really should have written this before the tryptophan hit my system. Just say no to drugs, kids.

Let's see:
Sound Reflecting Speaker (Water)
Cost: (Water)(Water)

Target: User

Effect: The target's Combat Attribute is changed to
"Sound" during this turn. In addition, the target gets
the following text during this turn: "If the target's Team
is Defeated or Completely Defeated, give 1 Damage to
the Head Ninja that just Battled against the target."

Pros:
- Er...

Cons:
- Revenge. Kind of.
- Cost
- Deckspace

This falls into the same category as many of the other cards we've reviewed this week (tomorrow's is better. I promise). It's a) not worth it for the cose, b) too expensive to replace many of the better justsu that can be used in its place, and c) takes up space that you can use for better jutsu.

Also, I've never liked "last resort" cards. I.e. cards you play because you're getting your butt handed to you on a Thanksgiving platter, and you'd like to kick your opponent in the face before you go. It's just not worth the space it takes up, which is becoming more and more of a commodity as better cards come in to fill the space. Especially when it comes to Water.

Bottom line: I really don't like this. No, not even for beginners or in limited. There's an extremely good chance you're going to be able to find something better, such as the card we discussed on Tuesday (Water Cutting Blade). And since there aren't any really viable "Sound" combo's out there at the moment, I don't suggest using it for that either.

Constructed: 1/5 -> Again, ugh.
Limited: 1/5 -> There's better stuff out there, honestly. Last resort indeed.
Art: 2/5 -> He's a speaker, wrapped in a mummy, wrapped in a very angry enigma. And more hair than Jiraiya.

- Silas

A Happy Thanksgiving Nap to all!
