The demon of the cloud village
Frog Summon
November 27, 2006

Today lets look at a deck provided by Brandon. I’m not sure where Brandon is from, ‘cause he didn’t say, but I’m sure it’s a really nice place. He did tell me he wants to be the greatest warrior ever, so I hope I can help him on his path. Anyway, Brandon has sent us a Frog summoning deck, which actually has a lot of good elements to work with. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but lets see is we can streamline the curve, missions and jutsus to make a deck that will be competitive, at least at the ninja academy level. Brandon has requested that this be a lightning/ water deck, so let’s see what he’s got so far.

What we’ve got on the ninja lineup is too many one drops right now. We’ll slide some down to zero drops to make the deck more consistent in the early game. The frogs are taking up some valuable slots right now, so we’ll also need to reexamine the 2 and 5 drops slots to make sure that we can deal with this without giving up any advantage. We’re also gonna have to drop the fire missions and jutsus, because Brandon currently is running a three color build, which will make it hard to have the cards in hand that we need. Let’s get started.

Alright, in the zero spot, we’ll drop the naruto, we want to run naruto’s but you have to have oil to summon a frog, and right now we only have 3 ninjas in the deck that can do so. We’ll replace him with three AOC sasuke’s because he’s broken. Now we’re at 6 zero’s which isn’t too bad.

In the one spot, we’ll need all three of the LMS Naruto, cause need to make sure we get those frogs out there. I’m gonna keep the temari’s because this deck seems aggressive and she’s not a bad aggressive ninja. On sideboard, you may want to think about Shika, smarty pants to fill her spot against mental decks. He doesn’t have as good of an effect, but he won’t stop your aggro flow either. Now we have 5 one drops as well. We’re looking good.

Alright, now we have a big decision to make, and you have to ask yourself what kind of play style do you have. Your early game is aggressive, but are you willing to block? If you are, if you really are, then I think you can get away with running only one gamma and only one Gamma bunta. Here’s why. If you block, you don’t lose cards to your battle rewards and there’s no way to lose a frog to a hidden battle reward. I’m gonna move forward and assume that you will block. The build is trended twords this, your teams will be really big really fast, and you’ll be able to take a hit with kony and you’ll want to take a hit with naruto to get him to oil status. Turn 5 is forever away, so this is a risky play. You need to be wary of pass permit and other cards that give battle rewards, but let’s gamble. So we have an extra 2 drop spot which I’ll add another Iruka, cause he’ll come in handy later.

I like the 3 and 4 slot, they are really good.

In the 5 spot, with no rock lee, we’re gonna drop might guy completely. We’ll add in 2 Zabuza [DOCV]. I like him, he’s got a big sword.

In the 6 spot, I’d really like to see another Jiriaya. We need to be able to summon the frogs, and even though the 4th is hella cool, he doesn’t work with this build. I know you have another, so swap him.

Alright, our new ninja lineup looks like this:

Ninjas (24)

Turn 0 (6)

Konohamaru [HG] x3

Sasuke [AOC] x3

Turn 1(5)

Naruto Uzumaki [LMS] x3

Temari [VT] x2

Turn 2 (4)

Gama [H]

Iruka Umino [R] x2

Kabuto Yakushi [Withdrawal]

Turn 3 (2)

Haku [KG:BT]

Anko Mitarashi [FJ]

Turn 4 (2)

Kurenai Yuhi

Suien

Turn 5 (3)

Gamabunta [MPGT]

Zabuza [DOCV] x2

Turn 6 (2)

Jiriaya [PS] x2

Alright Jutsu time.  I like this lineup a ton. We’re gonna X the trigrams, ‘cause fire jutsus don’t belong in this build. Alright, so we’ve got two slots huh. Let’s throw in a two paper bombs, Zabuza can use them to kill people, and it will make people make mistakes because it’s not a very commonly played card. It doesn’t require a jounin, and it’ll help us use some of that lightning chakera that we’ll be generating. Simple fix.

Jutsu (11)

Summoning Jutsu x3

Paper Bomb x2

Water Style: Giant Vortex x2

Hidden Mist x2

Kunai x2

Only missions left. The missions are alright, but we’ll need to get rid of the intervention, I’ll replace it with an appearance of unknown rivals. I don’t like the noodle shop, and would like to see it replaced with an End of the Demon or another Appearance. The disaster is funny. I like it a lot.

Mission (5)

Toad Sage

Disaster Of The Nine Tail Fox Spirit

Appearance of Unknown Rivals

End of the Demon

Bingo Book

This build has a lot of draw power and some crazy good jutsus. The ninja’s are solid and you’ll really enjoy blocking like crazy till you get your frogs out and then you’ll rush them. This deck should be fun to bust out at a ninja academy event, or when you want to blow your friends away with shiny frog cards.
