Daredevil – The Man Without Fear

Well we finish up this week with a card that looks surprisingly a lot like Cyclops.  Since I play an x-men deck I think I will make this review based on what I have learned by playing Cyclops.  This is a decent card – if you have initiative on the turn you recruit him and if your opponent brings out something big that same turn.  The fact that you do not have range means that you will have to put him out front on the turns you have initiative and then hide him in your support row the rest of the time.  Not a great idea if your strategy relies on hiding some other characters in you support row (i.e. Madame Web).

The fact that he can not be stunned while attacking a character with a recruit cost of 5 or more is great.  However, I tend to worry a little more about those boosted level 4 characters out there – they can be pretty nasty.  Still this guy is great to use in a team attacking situation.  If you play your cards right and use this guy with Spider-Man – Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man you will have a winning team attacking situation all the time (not just against high drop characters).

Ratings:

Constructed – 3.0/5.0 ……I would still take Cyclops over this guy any day.

Limited – 3.0/5.0 …..Not being stunned while attacking is always a good thing.

Johnny Blaze Daredevil – MSM-002 – Not much to say here. Daredevil is a pretty generic 5 drop with plain vanilla numbers at 9 ATK and 8 DEF. The thing that makes Daredevil unique though is his ability to not be stunned while attacking a character with a cost of 5 or more. Again another card that can be cancelled when your opponent is attacking 1st which would cancel Daredevil’s ability.

Constructed – 2/5. Pretty average here. Use him for your Spidey-Friends 5 drop but that is about it.

Limited – 2/5 Again another card only found in the starter set that you wont be drafting until Spidey boosters come out.

Paul Hagan Daredevil, The Man Without Fear --

About a week ago, I might have called Daredevil a solid 2.5. He has a decent body, a fair ability, but not much else. Obviously with Spider-Friends, you almost have to play him due to lack of options, but he isn't horrible. However, with the release of DC Origins, Daredevil really looks a lot better! You'll notice that in the DC set, there aren't a lot of big characters, making the ones that seemed smaller in Marvel a lot larger. Daredevil happens to be one of those characters, so my respect for the Man Without Fear goes up a bit.

In limited, Daredevil has a recruit cost of five, meaning he almost always gets put in the deck. The fact that he has a 9 ATK only makes him that much better. Great!
