Drakewing Krasis

A simple, yet effective way to swing for lots of damage on the cheap. No, it won't live long, but then again, the Simic are pretty good at enhancing creatures! That means they need some relatively simple creatures to start enhancing! This would be a great candidate for throwing some +1/+1 counters or Auras onto!

Turns out the Simic, with their new Evolve mechanic, like creatures with large differences in power and toughness as well! Since Evolve cares if a creature has higher power OR toughness, you want plenty of creatures that have lots of one of those attributes, and the easiest way to do that is if they scrimp on the other. And since Drakewing Krasis has high power for its mana cost (at the price of low toughness) it stands a good chance of triggering Evolve.
Or maybe you just want to drop a three-power flyer for three mana and swing away. Drakewing Krasis is remarkably good at that!

I thought drakes and dragons were already distantly related to reptiles. If so, what exactly does "Lizard Drake" signify as a creature type? Can you tell from the shape of their legs or their tongue or some such? This is the kind of thing I was always disappointed was never explained in minisites or Monster Manuals or anything of that type. Don't hold that against this creature, though - it's not spectacular, but it's perfectly solid and fast for its stats. With all the powerful Auras we've seen recently, it can get downright scary.

Today's card of the day is Drakwing Krasis which is a three mana Green and Blue 3/1 with Flying and Trample.  This is an okay creature with nice abilities and power that is relegated to very specific builds by the low toughness and multicolor casting cost. With minimal support it can be very effective and will probably see some play if Simic themes become popular in Constructed.

In Limited this is a good source of damage and works very well with Green's Bloodrush options and low power creatures with Evolve. Always worth playing in Sealed when running Simic and a good midrange pick in Booster.

Welcome back to the Pojo.com card of the day section. Today we are looking at Drakewing Crasis from Gatecrash! Drakewing Crasis is a common blue and green creature lizard drake that costs one generic, one green, and one blue mana for a 3/1. Drakewing Crasis has flying and trample.

Sometimes there exist commons that make rares, well, suck to put it blatantly. And Drakewing Crasis is one of them. As a common, it is likely you will see lots of these, especially in Limited formats, which means, the more the merrier. But even outside of that, it is still a 3/1 flying trample for only three mana. That means it comes out fast, and hits faster. When combined with Rancor and Forced Adaptation, this guy gets out of hand, and fast! And that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are tons of ways to exploit this guy!

One of the best commons in the set, no doubt!
