Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief

Before the Zendikar block, my favorite vampire card was Soul Collector. Not only does it have appealing art which accurately portrays the subtle violence and dominance characteristic of the vampire, its mechanics matched it perfectly. Much like Soul Collector, Drana is a multiple threat: strong in combat, good at eliminating enemy creatures, and interacting well with anything that counts a creature's power.  She is a worthy leader of Malakir's greatest family, and a worthy addition to anyone's collection.

Today's card of the day is Drana,

Kalastria Bloodchief which is a decent
4/4 for five with Flying and a removal plus power boost that costs X and two Black.  The overall cost is a bit high and slow for constructed formats which will keep this from seeing much play.  Vampire decks have too many other options to play that make a bigger impact when they hit the battlefield.

For Limited this is an extremely powerful card that can clear blockers out of the way and attack for a great deal of damage.  Flying tends to win games in the format and 4/4 is quite reasonable for five mana, but add in removal and you have an top of the line card.  An easy first choice in Booster and a good card to build around in Sealed even with the two Black mana in the casting and activation costs.
