Celestial Purge

To go along with Luminesce. I actually liked Luminesce better because it could effectively counter all the copies of a Grapeshot, as well as void whatever spells had contributed to Storm count. Celestial Purge couldn't have done that, but now that Storm has rotated out of Standard, I doubt any Standard decks would want Luminesce over this.

Of course, it is still just sideboard fodder. But when it can RFG Nicol Bolas for two mana, it's good sideboard fodder.

Increasingly, nothing is safe from white spells - not even Bitterblossom, or Chandra Nalaar, or Hellspark Elemental, or Ajani Vengeant, or Furnace of Rath, or Ichorid, or Necropotence. Did I mention I'm glad Black Knight is coming back in M2010?

Not a heck of a lot to say about today's card. Fantastic in the sideboard but that is about the only place it would ever go. However, it is an instant...it is only two cc...it can kill anything (permanents). Very efficient for what it does.

Great sideboard card because removing a black/red permanent for 2 CC at instant speed is just really efficient. There's also no lack of black/red permanents. Definitely worth a sideboard slot in any deck running white, or at least is one of the top candidates to be considered for one. Don't board this in for Faeries just for the Bitterblossom though.

Celestial Purge

Constructed: This card showed up in some top decks in the last Pro Tour. Great against Demigod of Revenge and Figure of Destiny. Great sideboard card for against any red or black combination.

Casual: It's a good card for any casual game, but we rarely play sideboards and multi-player you never know what is going to show up.

Limited: Like I have said before I value removal highly. I would even hate draft it. Staring down a Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, not a problem. Some bust out a Maelstrom Archangel, done. Almost all of the big threats have a little black or red in them, but there are some that this will not deal with.

Overall another great uncommon.

What the.....where's black new removal wizards? really....another white spell and this one removes planeswalkers? Definitely spoiling white lately. I expect to see this getting some play at least in sideboards as a way to get rid of sarkhan and ajani for cheap. Casual decks could always use some nice removal like this. Limited is even better for all the gold creatures to hit.
