Deity of Scars

It may seem undercosted, but since its regeneration ability costs one mana, this is really a 7/7 trample for seven mana.  Granted it can also be a 5/5 trample for 5 mana, but it is handy that you can remove its counters without it being about to die.  It also has a little built in protection from creatures with wither, which is nice.

Constructed- 4

Casual- 4.5

Limited- 4.5

Friday - Deity of Scars

One of the better avatars. 5 mana for a 5/5 trampler is pretty average, but he has regeneration. Now add the fact that regenerating him makes him stronger, cards that give -1/-1 counters only *help* him, and he's black (so he avoids a lot of black removal), and you have a powerful creature that will probably win you the game. I wouldn't be surprised if Extended Rock tries to make some use of this guy. In standard, there's not really a good B/G deck for him to fit into, and he's way too hard to cast in a B/X or G/X deck.

In limited, I can't think of a card you'd want more if you're B/G. First pick it if you're in the colors.

Constructed - 3
Casual - 4
Limited - 4

This character is going to be a huge presence in formats where -1/-1 counters and wither are more significant (probably block constructed and limited, as things stand now). He shrugs off Incremental Blight, laughs at Kulrath Knight, and plows through Wren's Run Vanquisher and Gloomlance. What's not to like?

Diety of Scars

The new hybrid Avatars in this set are pretty cool.  This one is a great simple beater.  In limited this guy is fantastic.  In constructed, he may be bested by others but he sure is beefy.  His regenerate=get bigger ability is what makes him great.  With some acceleration having a 5/5 trampler on turn 4 is spicy.

Friday August 1.

Deity of Scars

RGIF!

Constructed: I think all of the Spirit Avatars should see some play for Standard or Block. They all have such cool abilities. This guy is crazy. 5/5 for 5 mana that can regenerate for either a green or black and remove to make him bigger with trample. WOW. Plus he is part BLACK.

Casual: This will probably be the best for the casual players. They love trample.

Limited: Green and Black will be very strong for Sealed and Draft. First pick and will hate draft him if I am not in green or black. Hope to not see it on the other side of the table.

Overall it is a great card and it's brothers are also good.

Constructed: 4

Casual: 5

Limited: 4

Have a great weekend.

Miguel
