Commandeer - Friday

This is a neat card. It's really a complicated redirection spell. But it does some neat things. And it has an alternate "free" cost to it as well. This card should go over extremely well among casual players. I can see this (or multiple copies of this) causing some chaos in group games.

Casual: 3.5

Commandeer - I was really impressed with this card the first time I saw it. It's part Force of Will, part Misdirection. Unfortunately, it falls short of either. The cost to play this for free is very high. The cost to play it normally is pretty high as well. And it has one big flaw in it - taking control of some spells doesn't make them less effective. If you want to stop a Wrath of God, this card won't do you any good. No matter who controls the wrath, it's still going to happen. The same is true for a lot of artifacts and enchantments. This card is best for taking control of a lethal Demonfire or something, so it definitely has a use. But it's not all the hype makes it out to be.

Constructed Rating - 2.3
Casual Rating - 2.5
Limited Rating - 2.0

Commandeer- Rare- Coldsnap

I have mixed feelings about this card. on one hand it utterly takes your opponets arena/jitte/Chord/fireball, but it costs 3 cards to do it. Currently Commandeer isn't a very popular card (Soul Spike is better IMO) but if a blue control deck surfaces anytime soon I can see this being a card that is atleast in the sideboard.

Ratings:
constructed- 3/5 it really depends how good blue control is after kamigawa rotates out
limited- 2/5 in a creature based format like limited this card just isnt too good
casual- 4/5 take that 10000 damage fireball your opponet made

Commandeer

I really like this card. I don't think it's going to be played, but it's still cool. If you're playing a control deck you should easily be able to hardcast this card in the late game, and in the early stages of the game you can use the "Pitch" ability to steal something that looks like it could help you. Need more cards? Commandeer that Tidings the opponent just played. Your opponent trying to resolve a Jitte? Let it resolve on your side of the field. There's just so many funny things you can do with this card. I just can't wait until somebody Commandeers a Yawgmoth's Will in Vintage, even though I doubt it's gonna happen.

Constructed: 2 - I can see Tron abusing this card in the mirror match or as tech vs. Heartbeat Combo.
Casual: 4 - Because this is a really sweet Misdirection/Force of Will hybrid.
Limited: 2 - There's not a whole lot of good cards you can take in this format.
