Gather Courage

I truly dislike this card. It's not very good. It's inferior to even simple cards such as Giant Growth. However, in limited play it's actually decent. With convoke, you can use it even when you are tapped out. This can allow you to catch an opponent by surprise...especially on defense. It's not really a constructed worthy card, but I wouldn't mind having a couple of these in a limited deck.

Gather Courage - A few months back I wrote about the one drops of Ravnica for limited. Gather Courage remains one of my favorites. I can't count the number of times I've saved an important creature from a Last Gasp when I was tapped out, much to my opponent's dismay. The possibility of casting it for free is really the only thing to differentiate Gather Courage from any other Giant Growth type effect. It has an important place in limited, but it will never make the cut in constructed formats.

Gather Courage

Nice instant speed pump for only 1 mana, or even 0 mana if you can convoke it. Pretty good deal. If it gave +3/+3 it would be amazing! Definitely playable in limited. Probably not exciting enough for casual.
