If it weren't for it's landcycling ability, Shorline Ranger wouldn't even be a "mighta-been"...it'd be a "never was". BUT...landcycling makes this card stand out just enough. It's kind of like Renewed Faith. Without the cycling ability, Renewed Faith is crap, pure and simple. Add the cycling ability with the bonus 2 life gain, and it's a main deck card in the highly played Mirari's Wake & Astral Slide decks. When cycling was first introduced, it seemed interesting, but not highly significant to many. But time and wisdom have proved otherwise. There may be a chance that landcycling may be subject to a similar fate. It's good, but just how good remains to be seen.

In limited, this guy is a flyer with a large arse. It can evade and be hard to get rid of. It's cost is a bit steep, but then again, it's a mana smoother if you see it too early to play outright, so definitely worth at least considering if you need the blue.

PS: Thank you to all of you who visited our Website and emailed us feedback! You helped us pick out a bug or two, and gave us a few ideas!! We REALLY appreciate your help! We still welcome any further feedback for those who haven't gotten a chance to check it out. Report bugs, give criticisms, and send in ideas of what you might like to see to: Chris Gerhardt - Thank you all!!!

OK, on to the chaff. He flies, so he's not that horrible, but paying 6 for a 3/4 flier is not generally something I want to do in constructed. If I want to pay 6 for a flier, I'll take a 5/6, thanks.

In limited, he flies, and he smooths out your mana curve, so he's ok.

I've heard people say that 6 mana is too much for a 3/4 flier, even in
limited.  Not only are these people wrong when they're talking about
Onslaught block limited, but they're especially wrong when referring to this
guy.  Landcycling is simply too good.  Draft three of these guys and play
them with one rush of knowledge and one island in your otherwise mono-green
draft deck, for example.  He is too expensive in constructed though, but may
still see play just for the islandcycling ability.
constructed 2.3
limited 3.2

In limited:
This guy is really good for a common, and his alternate cost is a huge bonus.

In constructed he has island cycling... uhhh... thats about it.
