Forgotten Ancient is the result of Wizards "Build A Card" feature, where you and I were allowed to give input and effectively "create" a card for the new set. And Mr. Babycakes, as he was nicknamed early on, truly is the nuts. I'm not sure what kind of constructed play he will see. But in limited, he can truly be game over for you opponent. I've lost to this guy more times than I care to recall, thank you very much. If he hits the board, you better have Pinpoint in hand and it better be the next spell played. Otherwise, it's up to black removal to off this guy.

(Hey everyone, if you guys get a chance, check out our Website...we just gave it a new look. If you get a chance, write us and let us know what you think about it...for instance, what you like about it, and what you'd like to see improved. Thanks!!)

We complained when the mana cost was increased by one. Turns out that this is a good thing, as Mr. Babycakes can't be Smothered.

This guy is great. Less so in constructed than in limited, since by the time he starts to get counters, the game is over or effectively over, but in limited, this is the nuts. I dare say you find a way to include him in your deck if you open him.

Constructed: 2.5

Forgotten Ancient can get groovy with Spikes and has some other neat tricks. Overall, however the card just doesn't do it for me. Cards that develop slowly just aren't what decks need to look for although the play implications are kind of cool.

Constructed - This is more of a card to build a deck around rather than a card to add to a deck - 2.85

Limited - Nice to help tip the balance of the creature battles - 3.00

Forgotten Ancient
He gets bigger, and bigger, then makes your guys bigger, and bigger.
Undercosted for sure in limited play,  and a potentially interesting
constructed card (maybe the win condition in a control deck, maybe just as
the "fatty" end of a beatdown deck).  Hard to say yet though.
constructed 3
limited 3.5
