Black Hand

Chase LE

Reviewed 01.26.2011

Welcome back to Clix of the Day, readers. Somehow I lost track of these chase figure reviews for months, forgetting that I had already completed them. So stick with Pojo for the next couple of weeks as I finish this look at chase figures!

BLACK HAND

wing symbol

111 points

Team: none

Keywords: Black Lantern Corps

Range: 8 x 1

DIAL & CARD:

http://heroclix.com/gallery/

STRENGTHS:

Strong AV, DV and Outwit are dwarfed by his Attack SP "Drain The Spectrum." He picks one of these colors: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue or purple. All enemies with a power of the chosen color within 8 squares of Black Hand lose -2 to their DV. He doesn't even have to SEE them.

Mid-dial he gains "Avatar of the Black" for Penetrating/Psychic Blast and the ability heal any one ally he can see when a foe is KO'd within 4 squares of him. Given that he's likely got Stealth at this point, that's a likely proposition. Late-dial his powers go all-black for Regeneration, Steal Energy, Stealth and Outwit, making him a tough KO.

WEAKNESSES:

He's totally soft, defensively, so that one landed strike is going to hurt. Zero move and attack is a problem for his price, too.

CARDS TO CONSIDER:

AUTOMATIC REGENERATION can really keep him going. OUTSMART is an economical pick to defend his SP that enemies will try their darnedest to get rid of. Double-up on his healing opportunities with the BLACK LANTERN. That, and the YELLOW LANTERN can really aid him during his "Avatar of the Black" clicks.

IN SUM:

"Drain The Spectrum" is another one of those game-bending effects that really force opponents to entirely change their game plan or pay the price. That makes Black Hand worth playing even though his other powers and stats don't quite add up to his cost.  3.5 of 5.
