Powers and analysis:
Clicks 1-3 bear Charge + Super Strength, giving Rhino high damage potential. All his damage reducers are here as well, with 1st-click Invulnerability giving way to two of Toughness. No powers on click 4, then Quake on his last two.

Rookie Rhino's stats are quite mediocre, so he'll have trouble landing that high damage without the benefit of cheap Perplex or Probability Control to back him up. His slow Charge speed means Telekinesis is practically a must to give him any shot at a first strike. Rhino is very much a front-loaded dial; you'll have to build a team around him to make him work. Not really worth it.

Feats:
NANOBOTS could work, allowing him to heal up to his first click -- IF you can get him to the objects to "eat." Normally, I wouldn't even mention IN CONTACT WITH ORACLE as a potential feat card, as it's kind of a no-brainer. But R Rhino *really* needs the help.

Themes:
He's a Spidey villain, so there you go.

In sum:
Rhino's 'clix is what he is: a dumb, unskilled brick.
Use him as an expensive but durable and offensive meat shield.

Rating: 2/5. He gets a point for being able to
move+attack for 5 clicks.

Powers and analysis:
Click 1 & 2 have Charge+SuperStrength+Invulnerability.
3 & 4 keep Charge but downgrade to Quake and Toughness. 5th click loses all powers but Quake, and the final two clicks are bare.

Exp. Rhino is even more top-heavy than the Rookie.
Only 2 clicks of SStrength hurts his damage potential a lot, making the Exp more useful for tie-up than the Rookie's alpha-strike ability. At least until he Quakes targets away, that is. His Syndicate TA gives him a better hit ability, though, given the right supporter. Comb your collection of wildcards to make Rhino an actual threat.

Feats:
NANOBOTS is still viable, but he's much less likely to heal to a decent click. In general, Feats aren't going to make him worth his new cost.

Themes:
Sinister Syndicate all the way.

In sum:
Even more than the Rookie, Experienced Rhino is basically a big meat shield. But he's durable, so back him up with a teammate he can share attack values with and make him a dangerous meat shield. Not recommended for games below 400 points.

Powers and analysis:
1st 4 clicks have Charge + Super Strength; defensively, Impervious is followed by two Invulnerable clicks and then two of Toughness. Click 5 drops Charge and adds Quake. Clicks 6 & 7 lose Toughness. Final click loses Quake but regains Charge.

This is easily the most usable Rhino of the set. He keeps a decent Charge speed with excellent defense and a respectable 9 attack, so he might actually land that high damage without help. Unlike the E, he doesn't lose SS early, either. Best of all is that he actually regains some offensive ability in late-dial for a last-ditch kamikaze effort.

That's the good news. The bad is that all this makes Rhino an inviting target. He cannot be a tentpole figure without a load of feats. Lack of the Synidicate TA is a double-edged blade keeping his cost down but hurting his hit ability.

Feats:
MOVETHROUGH is a solid choice. FORTITUDE helps him last longer if you're determined to use him as a main attacker.

Themes:
See Rookie.

In sum:
The only Rhino worth his points. Still not enough to front a team, but will make a great 2nd attacker in
400+ games.

Today we'll be reviewing Red Tornado from Collateral Damage

 

When asked to describe X-men 3 (Spoiler alert!) I like to compare it to the 90’s X-men animated show.  Remember in the first two episodes they made up a character named Morph and then they killed him?  X-men three is kinda like that except you replace the words “killed” with “brutally killed and decimated” and replace the word “Morph” with “nearly every major X-man.”

 

OH and here is a Red Tornado Review

 

Rookie:  42 points, No Team

 

 

Experienced:  53 points, JLA Team

 

 

 

Veteran:  67 points, No Team

 

 

Who is the Best The rookie is the cheapest TK character in the new format, but he only has one click of TK and you ALWAYS push your TKer.  The experienced is too close in points to the Veteran not to go with the Vet.  Winner:  Veteran

 

MOVEMENT:  Forceblast is still pointless.  But 11 movement and flying makes him a great taxi.

 

ATTACK:  9 attack is still way to low and this characters biggest flaw.  TK is the reason to play him of course.  Quake is definitely useful…once in a hundred games.

 

DEFENSE:  18 and Willpower is like a mini KC Green Lantern!  Willpower is great with TK and amazing with a high defense.  From a ranged attack his defense stays really high even after a couple clicks.

 

DAMAGE:  3 is okay.  Not great, but about what you should expect for his abilities and point cost.

 

SCULPT:  I love shiny and I love clear.  I even love red clear.

 

OVERALL: 

*       One of the best TKers

*       No move and shoot like Songbird

*       No Team

*       Low attack

*       Fantastic Defense

*       A lot of Purple on his dial.

 

I wanted to review Red Tornado, because I think he’s slowly becoming very playable.  Using him on a several figure team will work best and do not hesitate to use him as a Taxi.  18 defense is really hard to hit, he’d have to roll a 9 just to hit himself!  The Willpower is probably his biggest selling point.  I expect him to see a lot of competitive play, but not because he’s great, just because there are very few other options with his powers set.

 

Overall see X-men 3 you will not be disappointed.  Well…you may be greatly disappointed, but it’s still worth seeing.
