Today we are going to review the POG Mary Jane Watson/Parker from the Marvel Map Set

A WORD ON POGS: (same as last reviews) Personally hate the Pogs.  I dislike the idea that they can be used in competitive play to tie up figures or hide behind with trick shot.  Nubula with 10 Aunt May Pogs and trick shot, pretty much can not be killed.  The Fact that a veteran Superman needs to “break away” with Iris West-Allen seems ridiculous to me.  I love getting that something extra in the pack and I love the idea of doing a “save Ben Urich” scenario, but if we are taking competitive tournament, the Pogs can be way too abused.  I hate playing with them, but I do when I really want to win.

Cost and Abilities:

POG = 5 Points, 1 clicks of life, Spiderman Team Ability.

Movement: 7 in movement.  Seven is just a great amount of movement when you cost 5 points.

Attack:  6. It will rarely come up since she has no damage.

Defense: 14.  She can be and probably will be hit, but here is an outside chance they will miss and have to take two painful turns to get that 5 points.  Yes Harvey Bullock has 14 as well and I said they can’t miss in my review, but Harvey is 12 points and meant to attack.

Damage:  0. But with Haymaker it’s 2!

Sculpt:  What sculpt?  Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid Pog!

Team Ability:  This is why the Pog’s should be burned.  Spiderman Ally means she is a wild card.  Nothing is more disturbing then sitting across the table from 20 Mary Jane Pogs that can copy “Outwit” from Anti-Super man, have stealth from Batman Ally, can heal a character then they are killed from the Suicide Squad Ability and finally all have the Mystic Team Ability (you take a mandatory click every time you hurt one.)

Overview:  This is the best Pog.  There is no question.  I will go a step further and say this may be the most powerful (figure/non-figure) in the game for the point cost.  Unless you are playing no team abilities there is almost no reason not to play her.  I am always glad when I hear no name duplicates at a tournament, because you can not beat a person that is playing trick shot, behind 12 Mary Janes, that have Outwit from the Superman Enemy Team Ability and are Mystics.   Buy Mary Janes by the dozen.

How to Beat Her:  Well, Pulse Wave can really turn the tables, but the Mystic team ability can literally wipe your pulsewaver off the board.  Playing Fortitude can help a lot and save you from losing all your abilities, but the honest truth is…one or two Mary Janes are not a problem, but 16 with the right team abilities are unbeatable.

How to Play Him Get as many of her as possible.  Put one on every team you ever make and more if you can.  Then just grab the best from every different team and watch your opponent kill themselves wading through Mary Janes.  She and Alfred make a nice pair and so do her and an Intergang Medic.

Overall Score:

300 Point Games 5/5

400 Point Games 5/5

500 Point Games 5/5

Fun Games 0/5 (Let’s put it this way.  You will never win fellowship playing with her)
