Moonstone
Limited Ed.

#M-001

Reviewed 07.06.2011

Rurouni KJS

Now that we've looked at The Horsemen of Apocalypse, the pieces originally announced for release in the Origins gaming convention, let's look ahead to August's GenCon convention exclusives, starting with:

MOONSTONE (#M-001)
wing symbol
135 points
Team: none
Keywords:  Celebrity, Dark Avengers, Thunderbolts
Range: 8 x 1

DIAL & CARD:

STRENGTHS:
It's all about her "Intangible Attack" trait, allowing her to disregard walls and blocking terrain for movement: she can Charge from behind walls. With solid stats backing her up, that's pretty awesome! Even without cover, though, she can contribute with 8 range and Outwit, using her Invulnerability to weather enemy attacks.

Mid-dial, she switches to Running Shot and Penetrating/Psychic Blast, making her trait even more effective. Defensively, she swaps to Mastermind. A couple of Perplex clicks help. She wraps up with Pulse Wave and Energy Shield/Deflection.

WEAKNESSES:
She's defensively soft after her opening Invulnerability, which could be a problem given her relatively short 7-click dial. Very weak against tie-up at that point as well.

CARDS OR COMPANIONS TO CONSIDER:
She's really 143 points, because you're going to want to use the 8-point THUNDERBOLTS ATA every time. The YELLOW LANTERN object helps her mid-dial PB. She qualifies for the OUTSMART feat for most of her dial...use it.

IN SUM:
She's going to be highly useful for her trait and Outwit, but she'll need friends to share the load (and, later, the injury via Mastermind). Not quite tough enough to lead a team but more than a mere secondary attacker, Moonstone rates 3.5 of 5.
