SENTINEL OF THE SKYWAYS

Judge Limited Edition

Reviewed 05.13.2010

Rurouni KJS

So much for Origin's chases. Next we'll dip over to some figures that weren't pullable from boosters, making them perhaps even rarer than the chase figures — the Judge LEs!

See, back in 2007, the first Marvel and DC 60-piece sets were launched along with several weeks of sealed tournaments with participation prizes. Judges running the events were not allowed to get that prize, though, nor could they compete for the grand prize. So as a consolation, judges were awarded limited-edition versions of the participation prizes.

Team: Defenders

Keywords: Defenders, Herald

Range: 8 x 1

DIAL & CARD:

STRENGTHS:

Opening Hypersonic Speed and Invulnerability is never a bad combination (even though it downgrades to Running Shot on clicks 2-4 and Toughness by click 3). Energy Explosion also has its uses, particularly once off that first click. Mid-dial, he can Charge for a last bit of mobility. Steady 3 damage for most of his dial is also solid and welcome.

His late clicks feature a rising defense value with Defend, making him useful for helping other wounded pieces in the late game. His Defenders TA is also workable. And his price is excellent.

WEAKNESSES:

That Energy Explosion is a bit lame.

CARDS TO CONSIDER:

He's fine without feats.

IN SUM:

The prize of the Judge LEs, this is the Silver Surfer of choice whether in Golden Age or Modern Age thanks to his solid dial and affordable cost. 3.5 of 5.
