ANALYSIS:
Starting with two clicks of Hypersonic Speed and Impervious, this would appear at first glance to be the perfect (and cheaper) replacement of the retired Vet Superman from Icons. Except that this Supes is missing the anti-Stealth Superman Ally team ability in favor of the nigh-useless Justice League ability. His damage value is also pretty pitiful at 3 on those clicks. Sure, he's got Close Combat Expert, but Hypersonic fliers with range like him are better used to hit & run. And by the time he gets 4 damage for a few clicks, he's down to Charge. His Attack Value also never quite soars, starting at 11 but sliding immediately to 10 and bottoming out at 8 by his last two clicks. Worst of all, the entire back half of his dial is bare of any damage reducer at all -- instead, he has the "Self Sacrifice" power, which allows him to take damage for an adjacent character. While somewhat in character for the ever-altruistic Superman, this is a terrible power to use.

But not everything about this version of Superman is bad news. He keeps move+attack powers through more of his dial than any Superman since the Kingdom Come version. His average DV is also higher by far than any other Superman figure's, tanking at 16 mid-dial and peaking at 20 on his LAST CLICK...and I know from bitter experience that a number like that can be a really hard roll. Mid-dial HSS rounds out this latest Kal-El's upgrades over previous versions.

FEATS?
FORTITUDE is always a good choice for high-point tentpoles. So is PROTECTED when points are tight -- and perhaps moreso for Superman's high-stat but not-durable late dial. On the retired end of things, SIDEKICK couldn't hurt his friends if that late-dial high defense shows up.

IN SUM:
If only that Special Power gave him some form of damage reduction, he'd be great. But as-is...?

RATING: 3 of 5. Just too vulnerable for too much of his dial and lacking the brute force for that not to matter.
