Just as Magog is still one of the best offensive Heroclix figures, his setmate Batman is just plain offensive in the other sense. Sure, he starts mostly stellar with 11 AV Running Shot, double-target Incapacitate and 3 damage Outwit -- nothing to sneeze at. That is, until you sniff his paltry 15 defense with Willpower. Then his defense goes steadily down from there, even as he gets Super Senses and ends with more Willpower.

Just have to reiterate that. This is a 188-point character WHO WEARS A SUIT OF ARMOR that lacks even a SINGLE damage reducer. This is a 188-point character whose peak defense is less than the 36-point Vet Mandroid's. This is a 188-point character whose AVERAGE defense is lower than that Mandroid's. Which all adds up to a 188-point character that's less survivable than one that's 152 points cheaper.

True, Bats has Super Senses. But with a DV of just 14 and 13, those rolls will HAVE to be made, without fail.

A full dial of Outwit is his sole strength -- he can make damage stick.

Feats:
PROTECTED is mandatory -- you've GOT to defend that point investment somehow -- and works with his opening Willpower. STUNNING BLOW helps him get the most out of his early Incap clicks. Either of the new Outwit-friendly feats THWART or DISSENT would work OK, but I wouldn't add more than 20 points of cards on him, ever.

Themes/Comic accuracy:
Team Bats up with other KC figures
like...uh...well...he wasn't actually friendly with any of the other made characters. As for accuracy, I've probably harped enough on the total lack of damage reducers for "Iron Bat" here. What I haven't harped on is the fact that KC Batman, despite needing a exoskeleton rig just to move his battered body around, somehow rates Super Senses?!?? What the [insert strong injection here]?!?

In sum:
His good offense completely neutered by lack of staying power, he's overpriced by at least 50 points.
Only use old Bats here if you just like a challenge or don't mind taking one for the theme. Or if you're forced to somehow. Like if you lose a bet, or your archenemy holds your loved ones hostage. Or if someone pays you to.

Rating:
1.5 of 5. Got half-a-point for having flight and all that Outwit. At least he won't be useless.

Today's review is Batman from Unleashed

This is the Batman from Kingdom Come, when Bruce is old, his body broken, but his will strong.  He teams with Luthor to try to take down the Justice League, but later double crosses him and tries to help during the big final battle…until everyone got nuked that is.

He is a unique, 188 points, 6 range 2 targets, 8 clicks of life, no AE, and KC team

Speed:  Running shot then flury…its different…but not bad

Attack:  Pretty solid values for the points, incap works good with 2 targets

Defense:  WOW…..this guy will get hit every time…and for 188 points that is real bad

Damage:  Again, crap numbers for the points, but all that outwit is pretty good

The Good:  Dual targets

                    Incap works with 2 targets

Full dial incap is always good

Running Shot and Flurry isn’t bad

The Bad:   Low defense numbers, and the willpower means he will get destroyed

Low damage numbers, but the outwit can help it get through…even at the 1’s…

6 range sucks…even chargers can get to him

Feats:   ICWO is a must for the defense, Protected is a must too

Overall:    Wow, here is a piece that I have NEVER seen used, and it is easy to see why.  The movement and attack numbers aren’t bad, but the defense and damage are so low he is completely unusable for the points.  If he was 120 points, he would be perfect.  At 188….wow

Constructed/Unrestricted: 1 / 5

Sealed/Draft:  1 / 5

Overall:  1 / 5

Today we check out our second KC… and I can safely say that he’s the worst of them, hands down. He’s possible a Top 10 worst figures in the game! Yes, I see you’ve guessed it! It’s KC Batman! He’s of course a Unique, no archenemy, has flight, 6 range 2 targets, KC TA, 8 clicks of health and:

Stats:

Speed: 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 8, 8. First 3 clicks have Running Shot, the next
4 have Flurry, and that’s all.

Attack: 11, 11, 10, 10, 9, 9, 8, 8. First 4 clicks have Incapacitate, and that’s it.

Defense: 15, 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 12, 12. First and last 2 clicks have Willpower, what’s left in the middle is all Super Senses.

Damage: 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1. Full-dial of Outwit

Analysis:

His Speed isn’t bad… 3 clicks of RS followed by some Flurry is cool… but a 6 range kinda sucks… if he had at least 8, that’d be so much better.

His Attack is not too bad… although it’s nothing special. Incapacitate with
2 targets is nice, but on a guy that’s nearly 190 points… not so much… and even worse with 6 range.

His Defense is what breaks him. Totally. I really don’t know what the heck were they thinking… or if they made a mistake or what… is sooooooo low.

His Damage is sad too… only starts with a 3… and goes down sooo fast. Full dial of Outwit is cool, so… boomer :P

Conclusion: Well I guess it’s pretty obvious what goes here. Do you want to
spend nearly 190 points on a clix with low damage and no protection
whatsoever? (very low DV, no damage reducers and not even the Batman TA!!).
Yeah, didn’t think so.

Rating: 1.5/5.

Today's Click of the Day is  KC Batman
Unique from Unleashed

This is Batman with a more high-tech arsenal for combat and is by far one of the most dangerous reincarnations ever. Let's see if the figure lives up to the hero.

He is 188 points; Flyer; Kingdom Come Team; 6 Range; 2 Bolts
 10    10    10   19    19    19    18    18      KO    KO    KO    KO
 11    11    10    10   19    19    18    18     KO    KO    KO    KO
 15    14    14    14    13    13    12    12     KO    KO    KO    KO
  3     3      2      2     2      2     1      1     KO    KO    KO    KO

Speed  -- 10 with Running Shot is a relief for three clicks but then Flurry shows up. It makes up for the sufficient loss of damage.

Attack  -- The numbers are almost a mirror image of the Speed. I doubt that Incpacitate will ever be used, but you never know when you might need to use it. Consistent values.

Defense  -- I've always said low defense can turn out perfect but only when they're ready to die. 15 is HORRIBLE, and it's only there for 1 click! Willpower is nice though and Super Senses will make up for the defense.

Damage  -- This is probably why Batman is so many points: a full dial of Outwit. Ever notice those 150+ clix that always look overrated but have so much Outwit (ahem Nimrod)? Batman is one of them. Still, Outwit is good and will definetely help out the low values.

Sculpt  -- It's not just the stats that makes KC figs so collectable.

 Romanco's Breakdown
~ Can move himself around
~ Running Shot with very short range
~ Incredibly low defense
~ Have to switch to close combat very quickly

I never read the Kingdom Come series but by judging the clix version of Batman, I can only wonder if he was the sacrifice. Obviously he wasn't but by looking at all the Kingdom Come figures's attack values, then Bat's defense, he doesn't seem too hard to kill. No feats recommended; you don't want to break 200 points. He could be efficient if you played Dark Shadows but after taking 3 damage, KC Bats is hopeless; 50 points overrated.

Batman gets a 2.25/5.
