Before we got Supernova's nice REV of the mainstream Marvel Universe Thor, this hippie pretender from the Ultimates was the hammer-wielding goldilocks of choice. Not hard to see why. Running Shot, 10 range, 2 targets, massive 5 damage, a 12 ATTACK and the ability to ignore hindering terrain makes him a nightmare at range. His only weakness is a decidedly average defense value -- and with Impervious and his unparalleled first strike ability, it's more than enough, usually.

Also, while most figures of this era start strong and sink into uselessness, Thor's AV and damage swings back upward on the back half of his dial. He's a serious threat as long as he's on the board and can act.

Feats:

He's cheap enough to make FORTITUDE a no-brainer to keep him around as long as possible.

Themes:

Usually a member in good standing of the Ultimates.

Comic accurate?

A bit bare of powers. A click of Phasing would be welcome, or Energy Explosion to represent a lightning storm...

In sum:

...but by ignoring many of his powers in favor of pure stats, the designer created a figure that's way TOO efficient and one of the best pounders in the game to this day.

Rating: 4 of 5, losing a point for low defense.

This is Thor from the Ultimates universe, where he was a pacifist…go figure

 

He is a Unique, 186 points, 10 range 2 targets, a flier, no AE, and Ultimates team

Speed:  Two of running shot and 2 of charge at end…not bad…not great

Attack:  A-Mazing

Defense:  Low numbers that will get hit every time, but the reducers keep him around

Damage:  A-Mazing

The Good:  Amazing attack and damage

      Very push friendly

      Anti-stealth team ability

      Do I really need to explain why this guy is good?

      All this AND a 10 range with 2 targets

The Bad:   Limited movement after first two clicks

    Low defense, really low


Feats:   You really don’t need any, but ICWO can make his damage even more disgusting, Haymaker can beef up his damage, Protected can keep him around, and Shellhead will keep his defense respectable because of how push friendly he is


Overall:    Everyone knows who this guys is and why he is amazing.  His attack and damage are higher than even Vet Supes, and that is saying something.  He is amazing the entire dial, and truly one of the most broken pieces in the game.  He is a beast, plain and simple.  He can get tied up easily, but anyone who bases him will probably be destroyed in one hit, so there is not much to worry about there.  Slap shellhead and he will live even longer. 

Constructed/Unrestricted: 4.5 / 5 (a well balanced team can take him down, it wont be easy though)

Sealed/Draft: 5 / 5

Today's Click of the Day is  Thor
Unique from Ultimates
 
Basically the same bio of a regular Thor, but only ULTIMATE. Let's see if Thor really is ULTIMATE.
 
Thor is 186 points; Flies; Ultimates Team; 10 Range; 2 Bolts

 Speed  -- He's going to travel some distance with 10 Running Shot and 10 range. Charge at the end could catch an opponent off guard.
 
 Attack  -- Not many 12's around nowadays.. the "bump" is what makes this guy so amazing. No powers?
 
 Defense  --  Uhh 16, yeah. And uhh, one Impervious click, yeah. Hey at least you can heal him easily!
 
 Damage  -- FIVE! Wow it only decreases below 4 damage ONCE! The other "bump" is what makes this guy so much more amazing.
 
 Sculpt  -- No wonder his damage is so high.. he looks so angry!

Strategy
Let the opponent come to you. This way you can retreat back to base right away. Don't directly rely on Thor because with one good hit he becomes a sitting duck.
 
Ulty Thor reminds me of Thanos from Infinity Challenge (except much better). In Contact to upgrade the defense. I don't know what else to say; the values are incredible but what happens if he's stranded in the middle of the board? ULTIMATELY, Thor was ULTIMATE but by today's standards, no. Good luck with him!
