Monsieur Mallah
Collateral Damage

Reviewed 01.11.2006

Average Rating: 2

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Dario I always prefer reviewing Uniques or R/E/V where the only difference between the figures is the cost (and that each version is more powerful than the
before). This is not one of those cases, but luckily the choice isn’t too
hard. Monsieur Mallah & the Brain is better than Monsieur Mallah because the latter has no attack power, has Battle Fury as the only damage power! and
barely decent numbers for its 55 points… in a nutshell, he’s not worth it…
but is this other guy better? let’s find out: he costs 138 points, no TA, 8
range with 2 targets, and 9 clicks of health:

Stats:

Speed: 8, 8, 8, 7, 7, 7, 7, 6, 6. He starts with 2 clicks of Running Shot
and ends with 2 of Flurry. No other powers

Attack: 11, 10, 9, 9, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7. He has Psychic Blast on the 3rd &4th
click, and then back again for the last 3 clicks.

Defense: 16, 16, 16, 15, 15, 14, 14, 14, 13. He has Toughness from the 1st
click till the 6th

Damage: 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3. Starts with one click of Outwit, then
follows 4 clicks of Perplex, then 2 of Exploit Weakness and finishes with 2
Outwit

Analysis: It’s hard for me to deal with those new lower attack values… but
keeping that in mind, this guy’s values are good. Given that he has a decent range, that Psychic Blast can come in handy, and besides it’s good because
he hasn’t very high damage values (although he has Perplex there…) His
movement isn’t really good, but that Running Shot combined with his
average-like range will do something for you if used wisely, and that Flurry at the end can give you the edge on a close combat fight late game
(specially considering that he has a 3 with Outwit) His defense is his weak
point, as it is too low for the figure’s cost. That Toughness will help, but he ought to have a better defense… well, you know how I feel about defenses
:P Finally, his damage part of the dial… it’s very nice, should he have a
little higher values it would be awesome. But it’s still nice with Outwit at the beginning and the end, and with that Perplex and Exploit Weakness…

Conclusion: He’s not a personal favorite… I feel he’s a little overcosted…
if he at least had a decent TA… but try him with a Feat or two, you may like him.

Ranking:

100 – N/A
200 – 1/5 Not enough room
300 – 2.75/5 Meh…
400 – 2/ Here’s room for bigger dudes :P
500+ - 2/5 See above

Today we review three figures,pinky....i mean mossiure mallah and the brain. this rev set has three entirely unique figures, even the sculpts.

The rookie clocks in at 55 points. Is he any good? Sure I guess, im not a big fan of low cost brawlers but he looks ok. You get charge on his first click, and throw pounce on om him for some mobility 2-4.  His stats are OK, decent for his points, and if you are playing against some one who is using armor wars figs hes good.

The brain for 70 points is a very good support fig. He is a support figure that can punish someone who hits him with a little psychic blast.  He has mastermind to stick around longer, but basically this is a glorified black panther, or a glorified con artist depending on if you push or not. I might consider using him, but all in all I dont think he will be getting much play. And get your minds out of the gutters.

Monsieur Mallah & the Brain clocks in at more points than the R and E together.  I guess the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts.  What you get is an odd combination.  He has outwit and running shot and toughness on his first click, with good stats.  You get 8 range and 2 targets so you can hedge your bets.   I like the mid dial psy blasts on this figure, but the late dial flurry seems a little waster, especialy because they only have 7 attack and no perplex at that point. So once you hit the second string of psy blasts you really should hightail it back to mama medic.

Seeing as how the other two are relatively useless, ill grade review the vet.

200: 3.232/5 you are putting all of your eggs in one basket but he wont be hurt much by smaller eggs.  just slap on a medic and maybe a feat and you are all set.
300: 3.346/5 armor piercing is a must but he can work
400: 3.112/5
500: 2.887/5 hell be slaughtered.
