Unique Hellboy

The Unique Hellboy represents HB as his “true” self, the “Crown of Apocalypse”, and he is one band mother (shut your mouth!)…but I’m just talkin’ about Hellboy…(we can dig it)…

First thing you notice about HB, other than the huge horns, is the 188 point cost, but don’t let that be a deterrent to you, he’s well worth it. He gets 11 points of health, and has starting stats of 10 Speed, 12 Attack, 16 Defense and 2 Damage…not bad, but not as good as click 7 – when he has 6 Speed, 12 Attack, 14 Defense and 5 Damage. OUCH! He gets Charge and Super Strength plus a weird combination of Invulnerability, Toughness and Impervious throughout his dial. For the first 6 clicks he’s a Close Combat Expert, and for the last several he has Battle Fury.

He’s such a heavy hitter, it’s not even funny. You can just throw him in any fray, and he’ll whomp up and down the field of battle. With a properly supported team, Hellboy can’t possibly lose.

Unique Hellboy is the first truly sought-after piece in Indy Clix, and has a price range to match, with an upper end of $37, and a low end of $12, with most of them selling on Ebay in the $20-25 range.

I have to say, I love the horns, but the sculpt looks just a little off. Perhaps a more menacing pose would be appropriate.

My Ratings:

Playability 4.5 of 5
Collectability 4 of 5.

I don't anything about Hellboy, so I can't give you any background info. All
I CAN say is that this one of the best designed powerhouses ever! Charge, CCE, Super Strength, and Invulnerability gives Hellboy a tough starting package. After 5(!) clicks of life, Hellboy gains Battle Fury and his damage value goes up from two to four. In other words, folks, Hellboy can deal AT LEAST four damage for six clicks of life! Wow! Immediately after that he gains Impervious with 5 damage! With 11 clicks of life and a well deserved 188 clicks of life, Hellboy is THE consummate powerhouse.

Reviewage:
I don't have this clix...BUT IT IS AWESOME >_<! Not to mention, running
around with a frickin' demon is sweet too.
You get a ton of stuff for 188 pts, yes, its a team and a half, but it's
worth it in those 300 pt games.
By the way, I'd classify this guy as a 'Hulk-style' Clix. His best stats are
near the mid, sorta. First off, no range, but thats okay. He does have
ELEVEN Clicks of HP. He's already a monster... Add in the Wild Card team
ability, and thats just as good.
His highest speed stat is 10 with Charge for 3 clicks, not bad. 12 attack
max with Super Strength isn't bad, he also drops and goes back to 12 later
on in his dial. 16 max def with Invuln. Then goes up and down in defense
with various abilites (Invuln. Tough. And Impervious)
Damage starts at 2 with CCExpert. So, thats basically 4. He goes up to 5
with Battle Fury too...
Oh yes, think about it...wielding a weapon with SS, man, he's dealing a ton
of damage and fast.

Verdictage: Worth it if you can play him effectively. BTW, I WANT ONE >_<!
100: n/a
200: 2.5/5 Yes, he rocks, but pure numbers can take down a big guy like
this.
300: 5/5 Back up helps.
300+: 5/5 How can you beat up a friggan' demon? Especially when there is
300+a possiblity of TWO you're fighting?
Sealed/Draft: 5/5 Power-Piece.
Sculpt: 5/5 He just looks awesome.

Hey every one hope you had a good weekend cuz I did =). anyways todays click is Hellboy!! Well even though I was excited about us doing Hellboy when I looked at his status I have never read any of his comics.  Infect I have never heard of Indy comics until I heard of the Hero Clix set, sad isn't it =(, anyways since I don't know anything about Hellboy lets go straight to the review!!!

Well like all good CotD critics we need to start with the point value.  To be truthful i would be skeptical if you want to use him even in a 300 point tourney because in my opinion you shouldn't go over a 150 point character in any tourney format, and thats all that i have to say about his point value at the moment.  Next is his speed now 10 speed works very well with charge (which is for three clicks) even though the 10 speed only works for one click it can be a formable opponent from the begging to the end, and with his strange and awesome D I'd expect that his speed will rarely go down (but we will get back to that later). anyways all that you have to do for his charge is get a good flyer and carry him near your opponent and smash them to bits!!! well now the attack... Ithink there is nothing special about his attack except the super strength (which isn't a really big thing) but the thing that I think is strange is the fact that his attack goes up halfway into the dile. now you don't see this much but I guess it has to do with some hulk like ability thing.  Now to the status that caches my attention with this character is the defense.  now i have NEVER seen a click with a D like this, and it is not the status but the powers.  I have never seen a clicks status start with invulnerability for 3 clicks then toughness for 2 clicks then invulnerability again for 1 click!! and then impervious for 2 clicks!! and last back to toughness for 2 clicks. now I have never seen a figure start out good, get bad, get good, get better, then get bad. I would have to say because of this D his 188 points is worth it =). almost last is his damage.  The main thing good about Hellboy's damage is his will power, but in combination with his D powers I can't decide if it is a good thing or bad? well I guess it is good because he can beat up the opponent for 4 clicks then hightail it cuse his battle fury will kick in for 4 more clicks, then after that he has no damage powers.  Last but DEFINITELY not least is his health (the amount of damage he can take) now I may be wrong but I don't think there is any other character that is one click short of living forever other than Thanos.  now just this alone can make his 188 point value worth it.

final evaluation: if you get him play it (I change my mind from the beginning).

now the ratings:

200 point: -.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000(infinite)/5 if you play this click in this format I pitty your (word that I am not allowed to say) stupid soul.

300 point: 4.9/5  there will only be that VERY slim chance that he doesn't go on your team.

400 point: 5/5 you have him you play him thats that. I pitty your soul almost as much as i would if you played him in a 200 point game as I would if you don't play him in this format and you have him.

well now my new catch phrase that I got from some hippy show,  peace out!!!

Unique Hellboy

The Unique Hellboy is definitely a powerhouse. He's got CCE for his first 5 clicks. And after losing that his damage goes up so it's as if he never lost expert. With very nice attack values he will rarely miss. Having the ability to charge is also very nice, not to mention the crazy defense going from invulnerable to tough to inv then impervious then inv then tough again. He'll be in for awhile. For 188 points though he is pricey even for a 400 point game. His lack of range is a downfall but with charge and or tk'ing him he could be deadly from a range. You can always use the veteran hellboy for about half the points and also get a range of 6.
