Ahh Nightwing, the erstwhile Robin. Need some history? Probably not, but I'm going to give it to you anyway. Dick Grayson was a member of the Flying Grayson acrobat team when his parents ran afoul of some mobsters. During a circus performance his entire family was killed, and young Dick left an orphan.  Fortunately for him, another orphan was in the  audience that night, a certain Bruce Wayne. Bruce took in young Dick as his "ward", revealing his secret, that Bruce was, in fact, Batman. As Robin, Dick would encounter Batman's deadliest of foes,

including Joker, Clayface, Killer Croc, Scarecrow and infamously Two-Face, who had something to do with the death of Dicks' parents. Eventually Batman felt that having a teenage sidekick was too dangerous, and at the same time Dick felt that Bruce wasn't letting Dick grow and mature (or something like that). Robin left the Batcave, and went to college. Prior to this he joined the first Teen Titans, consisting of Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Speedy and Aqualad. By the time Dick was through with college, the Titans were a different bunch of kids, now including Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire and Cyborg (pretty much the team on the new cartoon show). During the Judas Contract storyline Dick decided to retire the Robin persona, and became the darker, more mature Nightwing.

After a long and stormy relationship with Starfire, an alien with orange skin, and a stint as Batman (during the fallout of the whole Knightfall saga) Dick moved to Bludhaven, an even seamier city just north of Gotham. He also joined the police there, and now fights crime both as a costumed vigilante and a cop.  At least, that's the storyline I remember. I'm not sure what's going on currently in Nightwing, but it's a long running series with a ton of fans. Nightwing was one of the original DC heroes in Hypertime, and has always seemed to me to be a great support piece. He is a tad pricey at 72 points for the veteran version, but for that he gets two range 8 attacks and 7 clicks of health, and is a Batman Ally.

His powers include Leap/Climb, Incapacitate, Smoke Cloud and Outwit. His starting stats aren't shabby at 9 Speed, 10 Attack, 16 Defense and 3 Damage. It's too bad he's not an RCE, but that wouldn't be consistent with his character, it's not like he throws batarangs anymore.

I love Nightwing's sculpt, it captures the character perfectly, especially the more martial aspect with those nunchuks (at least I assume they're Nunchuks, they could just be fighting sticks. I wonder if anyone has made a little chain to attach them...hmm...that's a good idea...I might do that).

Even though Nightwing is a rare, he's from the Hypertime set, which is still VERY easy to get. Recent auctions have ended between $4.50 and $13.50.  Seems a tad pricey to me, but your mileage may vary.

Nightwing:

With out a doubt one of my very favorite DC clix. The first thing you'll notice is the combo of leap/climb and the Batman ability. This means he can jump wherever he wants, never has to break away and has Stealth. Also, he has an astounding 8 range with two targets and Incapacitate, making him one of the best Incapacitators in the game. His starting 10 AV makes him better than the Bat in that section. Also, he starts with 2 clicks of Outwit, one of the most invaluable powers around. The reason he is cheaper is due, no doubt, to the lack of Willpower or ANY defensive power. But that is balenced out with an almost unchanging defense value, a decent 14 one click from defeat. And you get all this for only 72 points! Nightwing is like a miniature version of Batman, and is accually stronger in some areas! Use him, he is great!

200- Games: He is ok, but in low point games Deathstroke is better. 2.5/5

300+ Games: You just can't go wrong with this guy here. 3.75/5

Sealed Box: Broken. Use him, period. 5/5

The Bottom Line: 3.75/5
djkunai Master Dick is agile and intelligent, just the way Bruce's character fell onto the young boy through the years. He can Leap tall buildings in a single bound and uses brains over brawn.

Two ranged attacks with Incapacitate. That's a painful hit. No matter who you play, getting hit with Incapacitate on two characters is a frustrating @#$%^. Especially since Mr. Grayson can taqke down Superman turn after turn without having to worry about Impervious via Outwitting it.

Leap Climb and continuous Stealth is a great way to put him into place and ready for a beatdown. He's a piece on his own, being able to stand his ground in a 100 point game needing only a Medic.

Everyone who plays Heroclix should know Nightwing. If not, then your head's
under a rock. The absolute best Outwitter in the game. Use him in EVERY DC
team. Not some of the teams, ALL of the teams you ever design needs a Nightwing.
Heck, my very poor DC army wouldn't stand up without Nightwing. He's the HT
Firelord of DC. Use him well. Here's the verdict:
200:2/5
300:4/5
400+:5/5
