Greetings Mad-Eye!

I just noticed that nobody's ever tried to make a
formidable Hand-Destruction Deck in the CCG of Harry
Potter so I decided to make one. I don't have
Apprentice so I couldn't attach a *.DEC file of my
deck. I just put together cards using the Base Set
Spoiler found in pojo.com so it's a bit tricky to play
I suppose; but I hope it'll fair well when it's
already playtested. Anyway, take a look at my "Hand-D"
deck.ü

//Starter//
Prof. Minerva McGonagall

//Character//
Hannah Abbot

//Creatures//
4 Unicorn
4 Vicious Wolf
4 Boa Constrictor

//Adventures//
3 4 Privet Drive
3 Diagon Alley

//Spells//
3 Incarcifors
3 Transfiguration Test
4 Charms Exam
4 Snuffling Potion
4 Dogbreath Potion

//Items//
2 Pewter Cauldron

//Lessons//
12 Potions
8 Care of Magical Creatures

//Strategy//
Okay, so at first, I try to build up my lessons early
in the game and try to disrupt my opponent early with
a second turn Privet Drive. (I think it's no use early
on because I have yet to know if they're playing
creatures or potions/charms. Besides, that'll make it
harder for them to solve the Adventure because they'll
have to draw their way out of it. Secondly, I try to
up my action advantage through the Unicorns. The
creatures in itself is a great card but when it's
coupled with a Diagon Alley + Charms Exam combo, it's
very lethal. I can use Diagon Alley in three ways: (1)
I'd drop it after my opponent solves Privet Drive.
Since he has little to no cards in his hand, he'd want
to solve the Alley right away. That gives me about 7
or more actions to set up my strategy. (2) When he's
nearing to solve the Alley, just before his turn when
I think he's going to solve it, I hit him with a
Snuffling Potion. That would make all the cards he'd
draw go to the discard pile! Cool, huh?! And lastly,
(3) I'd let my opponent solve the Adventure if he has
a really low lesson count. I'd only do this when I'm
positive he can't play anything that will be
potentially lethal to my deck. Then when it's my turn,
when he's drawn almost half of his deck, I hit him
with a Charms exam! In a perfect game, I'd have about
4 Unicorns out already and then I hit him with a
Charms exam again, discarding his hand! After that,
when he only decides to draw one or two cards, I slap
down a Diagon Alley again! Lather, rinse, repeat. My
other creatures will be for direct damage and the
Dogbreaths will be for late game play. Hannah Abbot
will be used for either getting Incarcifors back or
dealing 16 points of damage after getting 2 Dogbreaths
back.ü So what do you think?

Thanks a bunch,

Zeus, first of all, you do get 61 cards not 60. I’m sure you meant to add and extra Hannah! ;o) Your write up was so good and your idea (although has been done a lot on apprentice) is new for the Trunk, so I chose yours to do.

CHARACTERS

You made great choices, especially having 2 Hannah’s. Yes I am relentless. ;o) HOWEVER! In order to have Charms Exam in your deck, you will need some charms power. Am I being slightly sarcastic? Of course I am. I like to joke with everyone, so don’t take this personally. I think Minerva should have been you starter because of her ability, but with your idea, Flitwick gets the calling!

ITEMS

Since we changed one of your lessons let’s use it to your advantage. The Cauldron cost you a lesson and moves you up 3. The Borrowed Wand will give you the same punch, because it will not cost you a lesson. And it can play as soon as you have 2 lessons out, instead of a power of 5. The draw back is that you only get one of them, so the answer is to get the best of both worlds. (1 each)

CREATURES

I understand why you need unicorns, but I think we better go with 2 and save room for something else later. Also, Boa is good, but for you Cunning Fox is better!

SPELLS

It may feel like I am destroying your deck, but just stay with me here. Remember, Transfiguration is out and Charms is in, so we can hang onto Charms Exam. Besides, you Trans Test would wipe out you Unicorns! That means we need creature killers, hence, Stream Of Flames and Bluebell Flames. Might as well do a little damage at the same time. This situation has its plusses and minuses. It will take 2 cards to kill a Guard Dog, but 1 for most of the others,(no fluffy protection), but if you play your deck right, they won’t get to fluffy. I am going to add you one Halloween Feast and one Logic Puzzle. Keep in mind that besides Hannah, you now have Flitwick, and you can use him to gain one extra Halloween, Logic Puzzle or whatever Charms card (wand even) that you need.

Here are your changes:

+1 Hannah Abbott

-1 Prof. Minerva McGonagall

+1 Professor Filius Flitwick

-2 Unicorn

-4 Boa Constrictor

+4 Cunning Fox

-3 Incarcifors

+3 Stream Of Flames

-3 Transfiguration Test

+2 Bluebell Flames

+1 Halloween Feast
