Welcome back fellow duelists!
We're on to the top two cards from Shattered
Alliances and these are definitely some of the best
of the best! Without further ado, let's get started
with number two: Queen Kalima
Name: Queen Kalima
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Monarch/Dark Lord
Level: 10
Power: 16000
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S3/S10 l 9SHA
Abilities:
Triple Breaker (This creature breaks 3
shields.)
Gaze into the Abyss- When this creature enters
the battle zone, you may put the top 3 cards of your
deck into your discard pile. For each Darkness card
put into your discard pile this way, your opponent
chooses one of his or her creatures in the battle
zone. Banish those creatures.
Reanimate- Whenever this creature attacks,
choose a creature in your discard pile and return it
to your hand.
Darkness Monarch- Each of your other Darkness
creatures gets +4000 power.
Whenever I think of "Kalima" I
instantly go back to that scene in Indiana Jones
(those of you who have seen it, you know what I'm
talking about!). Queen Kalima is one of the cover
cards of the set, so it's no wonder it's such a
great card! Kalima is the Monarch of the Darkness
civilization and is currently the second strongest
Monarch and creature in the game with a whopping
16000 power! This card also comes standard with
Triple Breaker and the ability that gives all of
your other creatures matching Kalima's civilization,
+4000 power.
Her first ability is probably
one of the biggest reasons anyone would want to play
her. You essentially mill the top three cards of
your deck to your discard pile and for each Darkness
card revealed (yes, that includes dual-civilization
cards) your opponent has to sacrifice a
creature. This will allow you to actually get
around cards like Keeper of Laws, King Neptas, and
of course Eternal Haven since it's not targeting a
specific creature! As long as your deck is primarily
that of the Darkness civilization, you can easily
get rid of a few creatures with this ability. If
you're running a Mono-Darkness deck, every card you
hit will banish a creature... this essentially
becomes a mini board wipe!
Next up we have the "Reanimate"
ability. This ability allows you to get back any
creature from your discard pile when Kalima attacks.
By itself it doesn't seem like much but when you're
returning powerful cards like your other Kalimas,
Monarchs, or even a Necrose. This can set up for
crazy combos and plays down the road a turn or two,
especially if you just played Kalima; you just
discarded the top three cards of your deck, so
you've already fueled this effect.
This card is essentially one of
the best outs to dealing with Eternal Haven but does
require a little more dedication to build around
her. If this card didn't require you to reveal
Darkness cards with her effect, this card would be
number one in the countdown. Keep an eye out for
this card, it will very easily become one of the
more popular decks in the weeks ahead.
Constructed: 4.50/5.00
(This card is a bit of a high cost to play and
requires you to devote your deck to the Darkness
civilization. That being said, this is the single
best card that can be used in Mono-Darkness a t this
time.)
Limited: 2.75/5.00 (If you get this card and
survive long enough to play it, you could
potentially get rid of some of your opponent's
creatures. It just depends on what colors you chose
to make your limited deck with.)
Make sure to stop by again
tomorrow for Number 1 on our countdown! Until
next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm
and game on!
