Hello again my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters! Today marks the eve of my last KMC of
the season. I will be at the New Holland, PA KMC at
Six Feet Under Games this Saturday along with two
other members of my team, Ragnarok. If you'll be in
attendance, please stop out and say hello! I love
meeting my fans or those that at least read my
articles! So we're finishing off the week with an
underrated card from Shattered Alliances,
Wildstrider Ramnoth.
Name: Wildstrider
Ramnoth
Civilization: Nature
Type: Creature
Race: Primal Champion
Level: 6
Power: 6000
Flavor Text: Legends say they created the
first continents, shaping the land to their whims.
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S5/S10 l 9SHA
Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Abundant Growth- At the start of each of your
turns, you may put the top card of your deck into
your mana zone.
Wildstrider Ramnoth is the
first "Primal Champion" to be introduced into the
game. He's pretty basic overall, a level 6 with 6000
power and Double Breaker. He also has the ability
"Abundant Growth" that allows you to charge an
additional mana at the start of your turn from the
top of your deck! It's to my understanding that
since it's your turn when it occurs, you can charge
the mana, then untap all your other mana, then draw
for your turn. So essentially, you don't need to
worry about a dual civ card clogging up your mana
pool when you really need to play a bigger creature
with that extra mana.
Probably the biggest reason
anyone would want to run this card is that it
eliminates the need to charge mana every turn and/or
you can essentially go up two mana every turn as
long as Ramnoth is able to survive. This card has
been a popular alternative lately to using Mana
Storm and is likely so with the overabundance of
Keeper of Laws running around.
When you play Ramnoth, you put
a giant target on its head. Your opponent either
needs to get rid of Ramnoth right away or you gain a
potentially huge lead. Keep in
mind that if you're running Ramnoth, you're probably
running some other ramp cards yourself. So
realistically you could have him out by turn four or
five!
Probably THE BEST combo you can
use with Ramnoth involves utilizing him with
Kurragar of the Hordes. Essentially you're able to
get two triggers off of Kurragar each turn now,
allowing you to set up some crazy plays and
potentially flood your battle zone with creatures!
I'm still not a fan of Ramnoth
myself, however, I can definitely see the potential
of this card and it's apparent that others have as
well after looking at some recent KMC deck lists.
Expect this card to stick around for a while,
especially with the imminent release of Almighty
Colossus!
Constructed: 4.00/5.00
(A creature that gives you free mana if it sticks
around. It also provides you with a moderate threat
in the form of a 6000 power creature with Double
Breaker.)
Limited: 3.50/5.00 (Ramnoth is a little slow
against rush match ups in limited but can set you up
for your bigger plays later down the line.)
I hope you enjoyed this week's
reviews! Wish me luck at the KMC this weekend! So
until next time we meet my fellow Duel Masters, keep
calm and game on!
