Hello again my fellow Duel
Masters! We're continuing the week with a look at
more Super Rares from Shattered Alliances! Today's
card will single-handedly provide you with an insane
amount of advantage and can set up some pretty crazy
combos as well that aren't just out of this world,
they're out of this reality! Let's take a look at
Borran, the Reality Shaper.
Name: Borran, the
Reality Shaper
Civilization: Water/Nature
Type: Creature
Race: Earth Eater/Colossus
Level: 8
Power: 9000
Flavor Text: The laws of nature don't apply
to him.
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S9/S10 l 9SHA
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)
Transform Essence- Whenever this creature or
one of your other creatures is banished, you may
reveal the top card of your deck. If it's a
non-evolution creature, put it into the battle zone.
If it's not, put it into your hand.
Borran is anything but boring!
This level 8, 9000 power creature has an ability
that can make it very difficult to
with anything on the same side of the battle
zone as he is. The "Transform Essence" ability
basically states that if one of your creatures would
be banished, you reveal the top card of your deck.
If it's a non-evolution creature you get to play it
for free and if it's anything else, you simply add
it to your hand! No matter what you will gain
advantage off this card... unless of course your
opponent finds a way around Borran's effect, such as
bouncing it back to their hand or sending it to the
mana zone instead.
This card can set up some
mind-blowing combos in the right deck. You can use
Ripper Reaper to sacrifice a card to make your
opponent sacrifice a card and then you get a free
card to your hand or another creature into the
battle zone! This gets even more crazy when you
might happen to have two Borran out... You no longer
have to worry about your creature being blocked or
dying in battle. No matter what, you'll get
something out of it.
If you want to take this card a
step further, if you have out Steamtank Kryon,
whenever one of your creatures is banished, you can
potentially play another creature and have that one
attack as well. Carl Reddish gave an insane combo
when he first previewed this card that involved
using Borran with Necrose with Ripper Reaper. It has
the potential to make bigger creatures more playable
just like in those pesky "Bottle Decks."
Being able to swing freely in
at your opponent and not worry so much about whether
or not they have Terror Pit is a nice advantage,
especially when you know you can upgrade a smaller
creature to something potentially bigger and better.
Overall, if you're running Nature and Water, I would
suggest giving this guy a try. He has solid stats
and provides advantage even when he would be
banished himself.
Constructed: 3.50/5.00
(As long as your opponent can't find a way around
it, you just made it extremely
difficult to overcome any of your creatures!)
Limited: 3.00/5.00 (Every creature that dies
gives you another card one way or another. Just be
sure to get enough mana to play this card and be
careful not to deck yourself out!
I hope you enjoyed today's
review of Borran, the Reality Shaper! We look
forward to seeing you all again tomorrow! So until
next time we meet my fellow Duel Masters, keep calm
and game on!
