Hello my fellow Kaijudo Duel
Masters and welcome to November! Things are going to
start cooling down from here on out for most of us,
so turn up the heat, grab a blanket, snuggie, or
whatever suits you, as we take a look at today’s
card, King Alboran.
Name: King Alboran
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Leviathan
Level: 7
Power: 7000
Flavor Text: The cantankerous ruler of the
swirling seas.
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S2/S10 l 9SHA
Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Forecast- At the start of each of your turns,
look at the top card of your deck. You may put that
card on the bottom of your deck.
Waterspout- Whenever you cast a spell, you
may return target creature that is the same level as
that spell from the battle zone to its owner’s hand.
King Alboran gives us yet
another Leviathan to play around with. This one has
fairly balanced and acceptable stats, 7000 power at
level 7, and has Double Breaker. Its two abilities
allow you to do things we were never previously able
to do before, look at the top card of our deck
before we draw it and put it to the bottom if we
don’t like it, and you can attach a bounce spell to
any spell you play… well, kinda.
The ability to look at the top
card of your deck before you even draw for your turn
is amazing. I personally thought that we were going
to get a Cyber Lord with this ability, but at least
they kept it in the same civilization. Forecast
allows you to set up your plays and make your deck
more consistent than it already was. If you’re top
decking, maybe you don’t want to draw that Sprout on
top… put it on the bottom of your deck and hope for
something better!
The Waterspout ability can turn
your spells into bounce spells on top of their
original effects. The largest downside, however, is
that they have to be equal to the level of
the spell that you play, not equal to or less than.
So sometimes you might be able to get this effect to
work and force your opponent to replay a card over
again, however, most other times you probably won’t.
Alboran can take down most
commonly played creatures around his level and can
deal with cards like Herald of Infernus and Lyra,
the Blazing Sun, but does that warrant this card
being used? I guess there’s a place for this card in
a very focused control deck and of course, a
Leviathan deck. If you combo this card with King
Coral, you can pull all sorts of shenanigans. You
can get to your other Leviathan cards twice as fast
as before and keep all of your opponent’s low level
creatures off the board. Give it a shot if you have
some extra room in your deck during your next Duel
Days and see how it works for you!
Constructed: 3.00/5.00
(It can beat down most mid-range players, it sets up
your draws, and can potentially bounce your
opponent’s and even your own cards back to their
respective owners hands.)
Limited: 3.00/5.00 (Great card in limited
allowing you to cycle through your deck like
nobody’s business! Watch out for rush strategies
though.)
I hope you all have a great
weekend, we’ll see you back here again on Monday!
Make sure to check out my article on Alter Reality
