Hello again my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters! We're finally closing in on our Top 3
cards from Shattered Alliances and these are
definitely some of the best of the best! Without
further ado, let's get started with number three:
Twilight Archon
Name: Twilight Archon
Civilization: Light/Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Skyforce Champion/Shadow Champion
Level: 9
Power: 11500
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S6/S10 l 9SHA
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Blocker
Double Breaker
Immobilize- When this creature enters the battle
zone, tap target enemy creature. That creature
doesn't untap at the start of your opponent's next
turn.
Impale- Whenever you cast a spell, banish
target tapped enemy creature.
Twilight Archon is a level 9
Skyforce and Shadow Champion. His stats are
equivalent to Andromeda of the Citadel and he's a
Blocker! This card is a card that will keep your
opponent from attacking for several reasons. First
of all it has a massive power level for a Blocker;
outside of a few select cards, you either need to
have a very big dragon or a Monarch on board to
boost your other creatures so that they could get
over Archon. Secondly, let's say your opponent does
choose to attack you, if you let the attack through
and your opponent hits a shield blast, their
creature is going to be banished, even if it is a
Sprout!
Speaking of Archon's effects,
when he's played you get to tap down one of your
opponent's creatures, much like Lyra, and keep it
tapped until your opponent's second turn after you
activate this effect. This leads very nicely into
Archon's second ability, "Impale." This ability
banishes a target enemy creature that is tapped
whenever you play a spell card! So if your opponent
attacks you at any point and they hit a shield
blast, you can activate that shield blast to banish
a tapped creature.
What makes this card even
better is that any tap spell will banish a creature
due to how card effects resolve. You play a spell,
Archon triggers his ability, the spell resolves and
then Archon's ability resolves. Stormspark, Spark
Cage, or even Sunshock will allow you to get rid of
just about any creature your opponent has in the
battle zone!
Now, obviously this card has a
major weakness in the fact that it's a Blocker,
however that is also one of its greatest strengths.
If you combine this card with Eternal Haven, you can
get out 19 mana worth of creatures out for just 10.
Panopter also gives this card more viability and
will allow you to draw cards every time you play
another Blocker.
This card has already seen
quite a bit of play at some events but time will
only tell if we'll see anyone teching in copies of
Comet Missile, Crimson Wyvern, or even Bolgash
Dragon. Expect to see this card coming to a
tournament near you!
Constructed: 4.25/5.00
(This card trades off with Andromeda, combos with
Haven, taps down a creature for
your opponent's entire turn, and can banish a tapped
creature by simply playing a spell. It is a Blocker
and level 9 so that's where it loses some
playability points.)
Limited: 3.00/5.00 (If you can buy enough
time to get this guy out you should be in a great
position to win the game. If your opponent is being
aggressive though, you may never get that
opportunity unless you lucked out in getting a ton
of Blockers.
Make sure to stop by again
tomorrow for Number 2 on our countdown! Until
next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm
and game on!
