Hello there my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters! Today we're continuing our look at my
top ten picks from Invasion Earth. Today we're
looking at a card that can prove to be a major
pain if you're playing a rush or aggressive
deck. Let's take a look at number eight on the list:
Major Ao!
Name: Major Ao
Civilization: Light/Fire
Type: Creature
Race: Skyforce Champion/Drakon
Level: 5
Power: 4500
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S7/S10 l 10INV
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Blocker (You may tap this creature to change an
enemy creature's attack to this creature.)
Fast Attack (This creature can attack on the
turn it enters the battle zone.)
Into the Fray- Whenever this creature wins a
battle for the first time each turn, untap it.
Major Ao is one of the more
aggressive cards we've gotten as a Super Rare in a
while. He's a level 5 Skyforce Champion and a Drakon,
so there's plenty of room to play around with this
guy since he falls at the low end of the curve for
Skyforce Champions and the high end of the curve for
Drakons.
He has some very unique
abilities, including both Fast Attack and Blocker!
What makes things even better is that the first time
that he wins a battle, he untaps, much like
Tatsurion the Unchained from the Rise of the Duel
Masters set. Let's not forget that this only
specifies that it has to win a battle and it doesn't
have to be through an attack. That's right, he can
block, banish a creature and untap to block one more
time as well!
When you combo this card with
the other Skyforce Champions you can come up with
some pretty ridiculous moves. Imagine if you have
out Starlight Strategist already and you summon
Major Ao. You then get to tap a target creature and
then you can feel free to swing over it with Ao and
untap again so that you can be ready to block during
your opponent's turn.
Probably my favorite combo is
using this card alongside Twilight Commander. If
this card has been tapped already due to an attack,
you can swing in with Twilight Commander and untap
the Major since he has less power than Commander!
This can set you up for numerous attacks in a
turn... don't even get me started with Jurlon in
this combo...
He obviously does have some
weaknesses though. Being a level 5 with 4500 power
makes him susceptible to cards like Gilaflame, Lost
Patrol, Sword Horned, and so on. He's not invincible
by any means, but can sure put up one heck of a
fight!
Overall this card is very well
balanced and may see some play in decks that are
adventurous enough to try adding in Light and Fire
into their deck.
Constructed: 4.00/5.00
(A Fast-Attacking Blocker that can untap itself when
it wins a battle; amazing.)
Limited: 4.25/5.00 (If he had a little more
power he would have a perfect score from me. After
turn five or six he loses some playability unless
you're opponent is playing rush.)
I hope you enjoyed number eight
on the list, stay tuned for number seven! Also, be
sure to check out my articles on Alter Reality Games
page as well on every Monday! Until
next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm
and game on!
