Hello there my long lost
Kaijudo followers! It’s been one heck of a week! I
got back from the Winter Championships and had an
amazing time! I did rather well for my first
championship showing and earned 9th
place, my only losses were to Carl Miciotto and Tom
Rogers who got second and third place respectively.
I may have not won the event itself but I did walk
away with the “Spirit Award.” This was given out to
players in the community that create a positive
environment for the game, positive sportsmanship,
and just generally enjoy playing the game. With this
amazing prize, I was also given an Almighty Colossus
Artwork signed by all the members of Wizards of the
Coast R&D as well as an iPad mini! It was such a
great weekend and I enjoyed meeting all of the other
fantastic players out there in the community! Also,
I would like to wish everyone a belated “Happy
Thanksgiving” for those of you who celebrate it.
Let’s continue my top ten list with number six,
Victory Gunner.
Name: Victory Gunner
Civilization: Fire/Nature
Type: Evolution Creature
Race: Stomper/Beast Kin
Level: 5
Power: 5000
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Rare
Set Number: 80/80 l 10INV
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Evolution- Put on one of your Stompers or
Beast Kin.
Reload- Whenever this creature becomes tapped
for the first time each turn, untap it.
Mana-Charged Rounds- Whenever this creature
attacks, you may put the top card of your deck into
your mana zone.
Victory Gunner is a very
interesting card that gives aggressive players
another tool to play around with. It’s a level 5 and
evolves on top of a Beast Kin or a Stomper, it’s
really your call as to what you use, but it
increases the playability of the card solely for
that reason.
It does only have 5000 power
but has an amazing ability to go along with it. Each
time it attacks you have the option to charge the
top card of your deck into your mana zone. Whenever
he becomes tapped for the first time each turn, you
get to untap him. That means that Victory Gunner can
attack twice per turn while boosting you up an
additional mana each time!
The biggest issue I see people
having with this card is that it’s not Bronze-Arm
Sabertooth. Sabertooth has more power and will give
you two free mana if it dies anyway, so why not just
use him instead? Honestly, I don’t disagree with
this; however, the versatility of Victory Gunner
puts him an overall higher level of playability. You
don’t have to worry about your opponent dropping a
Lyra on your Gunner, he’ll simply untap. You don’t
need to worry about Stormspark Blast ruining your
day, cause Gunner will untap as long as he hasn’t
already attacked. Also being able to potentially
attack over two creatures and giving you two free
mana in the process in pretty crazy in itself.
Let’s not forget that Victory
Gunner is a level 5. That might not seem like much
at first, until you realize you can’t use Bone
Blades to deal with him. If you have a Piercing
Judgment handy, they’ll likely be able to replay him
again the following turn since they just ramped up
on his previous attack(s). There aren’t a ton of
solid answers to deal with this guy, much like
Vicious Squillace Scourge. So unless you run cards
like Tornado Flame or Grip of Despair, you may need
to wait around for a Terror Pit or Root Trap, but by
then it may be too late!
Constructed: 4.00/5.00
(A great card for aggressive players that can be
used alongside Bronze-Arm Sabertooth and can get you
ahead of your opponent by multiple turns.)
Limited: 3.50/5.00 (In limited it can be a
game changer, you just need to get out the right evo-bait
and you’re golden!)
I hope you enjoyed today’s
review! Stay tuned for number five on the list! Make
sure to check out my article on Alter Reality Games
every Monday! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel
Masters, keep calm and game on!
