the Day! Today we continue to look ahead at cards
from Clash of the Duel Masters! Today’s card will
likely see some play in the competitive environment,
but to what degree? Let’s take a look at Truthseeker
Forion.

cast a spell that has “Shield Blast” from your hand
for free.
Today we have one of our first
multi-civilization card review for you guys and this
one comes attached with a free shield blast! Forion
costs seven mana to play and practically gives you a
“Rewind-like” effect where all that mana you tapped
doesn’t really matter (assuming you wanted to play a
shield blast from your hand that turn too). Obvious
choices to use with this card include Terror Pit,
Root Trap, and Bottle of Wishes! I could even see
more people running Trial and Error after the
release of this card.
What’s great about Forion is
that he’s a big beatstick for the Water
Civilization. A 6000 power Double Breaker is nothing
to shake a stick at! It can be helpful that he is a
Cyber Lord and if you run Skyforce Champions, it
could prove to be useful as well. It also proves to
be beneficial that this provides both Light and
Water mana to your mana zone as they both work so
well together in developing a control deck.
This card doesn’t appear to be
overpowered in any way as you are losing a card in
your hand… but for free and with an effect. It can
deal with threats like Andromeda or Infernus and
give you a big body in the battle zone for the next
turn. Combo this with Keeper of Dawn and you have
yourself a very nice set up! I know I’m looking
forward to this set and I can’t wait to see what all
else comes out from it!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.75/5.00 (Forion will see some play but it’s uncertain
to what level. Free shield blasts from hand are
pretty good though!)
Limited: 3.50/5.00 (His power is probably relatively low for this
set but he can play any shield blast for free and
there could be some amazing ones still to be
revealed!)
