Welcome back to Pojo’s Card of
the Day! We had some exciting news recently at the
KMC events, specifically down in Texas; Infernus the
Immolator was revealed! Our fellow Card of the Day
writer, Robby, did an awesome job at the KMC and
made the cut to the Top 8, congrats man! Alrighty,
let’s get started with a week full of Clash of the
Duel Masters! Today we’re taking a closer look at
Sasha the Observer.

Report –Whenever a creature attacks you and

Hologram-
If this creature would be banished, you may discard
a creature instead.
This is a very interesting card
with some familiar mechanics. Sasha is a Level 5
with 4500 power. This alone is decent for an Angel
Command from what we’ve seen before. If you add in
the two additional abilities you have yourself a
creature that your opponent will have difficulty
dealing with.
If for some reason Sasha would
be banished, you can instead discard a creature from
your hand to keep her in play. Add in the fact that
every time your opponent breaks a shield and you
don’t block, you draw a card! This is almost a
self-sustaining strategy in itself! By continually
drawing cards you give yourself more options to
discard should she be destroyed!
I’d like to think that this
card could find its way into some odd rush deck
variation. The idea is to keep attacking your
opponent’s shields and force your opponent to focus
on getting rid of Sasha while you continue to finish
them off. It should be noted that in the Clash of
the Duel Masters set, that there are blockers that
allow you to draw additional cards which can add to
the power of this card and the strategy that goes
with it.
By herself, Sasha is a creature
that will stay in the battle zone with little
difficulty. She’s not going to do a ton of work on
her own but if you combo her with other cards such
as Andromeda or other shield generating cards like
Wild Sky Sword from the Set Premiere, you can add
extra protection to yourself and allow for more
drawing to be had. Other combos that I’m not
entirely sure of the ruling on (since they
technically don’t banish the card if you use Sasha’s
effect) include using Ripper Reaper to banish an
opponent’s creature and Sasha and pitching a
creature to keep her alive. A very unique card that
could see some play but only time will tell how good
it will really be.
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.50/5.00 (She could find her own niche in some decks
and allows you to further benefit from getting one
of your shields broken. Right now though, she’s just
a neat card that just doesn’t want to die!)
Limited: 4.25/5.00 (It’s a Level 5 that can keep itself alive and is
a great pick for limited!)
Have a great day everyone! Make
