Chris Alparan

Hey everyone I'm Chris Alparan and I wanted help the kaijudo community by giving a different outlook on the cards we play with and what better way to start than with the king, King Tritonus!

At first hand just seeing him enter the battle zone is alot to handle with him using multiple effects at once, with him being a Triple Breaker as expected of a finisher.

Towering Intellect is a very scary ability, not just for the draw power but because one of the cards you draw could be another Tritonus! Meaning every time you play him, there's a chance another one will come out the next turn and that he could counter skull shatters!

Constrict is pretty tough as well, for the fact that this guy is a water civilization creature and his level 10 casting cost puts him into control finishers, meaning casting spells from the cards you just drew in order to go all in for shields isn't impossible making blockers almost obsolete.

Water Monarch is just plain icing on the cake as making all your water guys root trap and terror pit targets means they are near invincible not to mention water creatures don't get too many power boosts.

Rating: 3, because his high cost and only a few other ways to get him out keep him from going higher, but his power trust me is far beyond that.

All in all watch out for Tritonus in the new meta because trust me, he took a game away from me in a set premiere.

King Tritonus review

Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your memorial day! we have 4 reviews from Clash that premiered last Friday. Thanks to WOTC for once again giving us those fnatastic previews. So we have another flagship card from the new set!

King Tritonus
Civilization:
Water

Card Type: Creature

Level:
10
Race:
Monarch / Leviathan

Card Abilities:
Triple Breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)
Towering Intellect — When this creature enters the battle zone, draw up to 5 cards.
Constrict — Whenever you cast a spell, target enemy creature can't attack or block until the start of your next turn.
Water Monarch — Each of your other Water creatures gets +4000 power.

Power:
15000

So we have the 2nd Monarch, and the last Monarch of the set! We recently found out that we are getting 1 Monarch for the rest of the block (which is 4 sets total). So Tritonus has a bunch of effects. Lets break it down piece by piece.

Towering Intellect

Woa. What I like about all these Monarchs is the huge effects that are immediately present when they enter the field. Tritonus delivers on that. He can literally be a +5! (if you choose to) This is generally more advantage than Infernus The Immolator, on most occasions, can generate.

Constrict -
So when you compare this ability to The Immolators passive ability. It's a whole level down. Not that this ability is bad, but it just doesn't stack up. Most of the time when you play Tritonus you're tapped out. However if you are somehow able to stick Tritonus on the board you can really abuse his effect. However if you are able to stick Tritonus on the board you're probably going to win the game anyway.

Water Monarch -
So like Infernus being the Monarch, all your Water creatures get beefy. Now this power up is worth it. Your small little guys get HUGE! get wrecked.

Summary:
Looks like Mono Blue finally got their boss monster if you can get to the necessary mana levels (8 or 10). His power is huge and he is instant advantage. So how does he stack up to Infernus? I think they are powerful on different levels. Tritonus is more controlling and Infernus is more aggressive. They are two different beasts and WOTC did a great job making them unique and powerful. Will this card see play? Sure will. Will it last? Only time will tell. The other Monarchs could prove to be even better as the block progresses.

Constructed 4.5/5
Limited 4/5

See yall tomorrow!
