It's Monday and there have been
another run of KMCs that have been completed. With
that we have also seen the reveal of King Tritonus,
an amazing card that will definitely see some play!
Today, however, we will be taking a look at one of
his rivals from the Fire Civilization, Infernus the
Immolator!
Name: Infernus the Immolator
Civilization: Fire
Type:
Creature
Race: Monarch/Armored Dragon
Level: 11
Power: 17000
Flavor Text:

Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S4/S10 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Triple Breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)
Inferno Breath -When this creature enters the
battle zone, banish any number of target enemy
creatures that have total power 8000 or less.
Volcanic
Temper -Whenever this creature becomes the
target of one of your opponent's spells or
abilities, choose 3 of your opponents shields. This
creature breaks those shields.
Fire Monarch
-Each of your other Fire creatures gets +4000 power.
Infernus the Immolator...
there's just so much to say about this card and alot
of it has to do with its multiple effects. This is
the highest costing card currently in the game at 11
mana and it's also the strongest card in the game
with a massive 17000 power; if that doesn't scream
Monarch to you, nothing will! He is able to break 3
shields when he attacks, which should be expected.
Infernus' second ability,
Inferno Breath, is amazing in dealing with a big
creature in the battle zone or a bunch of smaller
ones like you would see in a rush deck. It
annihilates a total power level of 8000 in the
battle zone. The only real downside to this is that
he can't get rid of other Monarchs or the other 9
cost Dragons that are seeing a ton of play right
now. This actually reminds me a little bit of
Terradragon Regarion Doom in terms of his
restriction to what he can banish and for a monarch
seems a little underpowered.
Taking a look at Volcanic
Temper, we see an ability that is a little
reminiscent of the dragon that gave us tons of
problems, Spellbane Dragon. However, all that
matters with this effect , is if your opponent wants
to get rid of Infernus or effect him in some way
with cards like, Terror Pit, Death Smoke, or even
Lyra (but good luck swinging over this guy!). When
this effect triggers, you get to break 3 of your
opponent's shields! I assume that means that if they
only have two, you can just go ahead and break both
of them anyway. Needless to say, this effect
will go
off because you are going to want to get rid of
Infernus in any way possible. There is a plus side
to this effect though, you gain card advantage
against your opponent and this may be your way to
rally and make a comeback!
Lastly, Infernus gives all of
your other Fire Civilization creatures +4000 power!
Now, keep in mind that this power is
continuous
and not a temporary boost! That means that you won't
have to worry about Barrage, Dragon's Breath, Heat
Seekers, and usually Tornado Flame! This also puts
all of your creatures at a huge advantage against
your opponent and their blockers.
Since Infernus has such a high
cost, it will be difficult to get him out by
conventional means but not impossible. I personally
prefer the most consistent method of using Herald of
Infernus to swing over something and then being able
to drop this warhead in the battle zone! He will
likely serve as a board wipe at turn five or six and
he also instantly boosts your Herald to 9000 power,
making you even more of a threat than before!
Imagine other combos you can do with Infernus like
playing Tatsurion the Unchained! He's now a 10000
power creature that when he wins a battle you can
untap him... and he will win some battles! I
honestly feel the power boost is the most deadly
weapon that this Infernus has to offer but I'd be
crazy to say that this card isn't insanely good and
full of potential. This card will see a lot of play
initially in decks running Bottle of Wishes and then
I think it will level out in a select few decks once
the meta is further established after the release of
Clash of the Duel Masters.
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.25/5.00 (An amazing card that can potentially wipe
your opponents battle zone of creatures. The only
downside to this card is his mana cost of 11, but
there are other ways to bring this guy out.)
Limited: 2.50/5.00 (We still have yet to see the entire Clash of the
Duel Masters set, however, I imagine that it will be
extremely difficult to get a Level 11 creature into
play without the aid of Herald of Infernus or Bottle
of Wishes.)
Have a great Monday everyone!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's card when we take a turn
for the dark side. Until next time my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
