It’s Wednesday and that means that it’s time for another Card of the Day! I know, I know… we do card reviews Monday through Friday, but today’s special because it’s Wednesday! Today we’re reviewing the ruler of all leviathans, King Tsunami; let’s get started!

Name: King Tsunami
Civilization:
Water
Type: Creature
Race:
Leviathan
Level:
9
Power:
8000
Flavor Text: The unfathomable ruler of all leviathans.
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number:   S5/S15 l 3RIS

Abilities:
*Blocker (You may tap this creature to change an enemy creature’s attack to this creature.)
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)

King Tsunami is meant to be a ruler but what exactly screams ruler when you look at this card? I suppose it has Double Breaker and 8000 power, but Blocker? When designing this card I think they wanted a card that was huge and would make it nearly impossible for your opponent to get by this blocker with his overall level of power. They forgot about one card, Comet Missile.

Comet Missile puts all of your hard work to summon this creature to waste. Sure I’ll spend two mana to deal with your huge nine cost creature! This is probably one of the largest flaws with this card. If Comet Missile cost four mana to play, this card would be a little more playable but even so, it’s nine mana and he doesn’t even have 9000 power!

I’m really hoping for more support for Leviathans in the future like Poseidon! Perhaps if they create a Leviathan that gives all of your other Leviathans an ability like King Neptas, unable to be targeted by your opponents spells or abilities. I really enjoy the art on this card and a huge blocker that can also attack but it just tends to feel a little underwhelming, especially if it’s easily banished.

I really want to like this card but it’s really difficult when the Kaiju realm is telling me that this is the ruler of Leviathans and he doesn’t have some kind of commanding or boosting ability or just an effective ability in general. So sorry Tsunami, you may be shiny, but you’re best suited for the trade binder.

Ratings:

Constructed: 1.75/5.00 (The art is pretty cool but it’s just too unreasonable to try to play this card outside of a deck using Bottle of Wishes and even then, you had better hope your opponent isn’t using the Fire Civilization.)

Limited: 2.75/5.00 (Very slow to get out but a force to be dealt with as long as your opponent wasn’t luck enough to pull a Comet Missile or Crimson Wyvern!)

Make sure you stop back tomorrow for our review or we’ll have your hide! ;) Until then, remember to keep calm and game on!

Welcome back to the Kaijudo Card of the Day section here at Pojo.com! Today we are looking at King Tsunami. King Tsunami is a level 9 water monster Leviathan that has 8000 power. King Tsunami has Blocker and Double Breaker.
Talk about a double threat, both a blocker and a double breaker on one creature. Sure, level 9 is kind of up there, but 8000 power to do what you please is pretty awesome. Whether you are hanging back on defense, or launching the assault, this guy is good either way.

Limited: 4/5
Constructed: 4/5

King Tsunami review:

Oh pojo today is a grim day. As much as I try to see the good in cards. Todays card hurts my soul because it is a super rare and it is just about the worst super rare you can pull out of Dojo Edition and Rise of the Duel Masters combined, and lord knows I have pulled 6 of these now. The dreaded and the awful. King Tsunami.

King Tsunami
Cost: 9
Water
Leviathan
Power: 8000

Blocker (You may tap this creature to change an enemy creature's attack to this creature.)
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)

Ok for the sake of goodness and all that is holy lets look at the positives. Water doesn't have a lot of blockers that can attack. Being a double breaker is cool and 8000 power is going to stop a lot of attackers. The only blocker hat can attack in water civilization that I can think of besides King Tsunami would be Ice Launcher. Which heck to be honest is just as bad, but still better than King Tsunami. I want to take a moment and look at all the other 9 cost creatures in Kaijudo right now.

Infernus the Awakened
Dracothan of the Abyss
Andromeda of the Citadel
Kurragar of the Hordes
Necrodragon of Vile Ichor
Orion, Radiant Fury
Moorna The Vengeful
Sasha Channeler of Light
Diabrost, Shadow Marshal
Terradragon Regarion Doom

every single one of these 9 drop creatures vastly outclass King Tsunami already. So for your 9 mana your essentially summoning a 9 cost vanilla double breaker. Your mana is much better spent on a whole spread of other cards.

Summary:
Perhaps in some Leviathan deck where you use this as a fun finisher, but more often than not your mana is better spent on a whole laundry list of other cards. Thanks for printing this twice WOTC!
