Welcome to our Tuesday’s
edition of the Card of the Day. Today we’re covering
my second favorite Fire Bird who can generate you so
much advantage you won’t know what to do with it
all! This adorable little blue bird can prove to be
a valuable asset in any deck utilizing dragons;
let’s take a closer look and see why Nix is such a
great card!
Name: Nix
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Fire Bird
Level: 3
Power: 1000
Flavor Text: Nix sings a song of invigorating
cold.
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 20/55 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Dragonsong – You tap 1 less mana card to
summon Dragons.
Issyl’s Envoy- Whenever you put a Dragon into
the battle zone, you may draw a card.
Nix is the Fire Bird of the
Water Civilization and is known as Issyl’s Envoy.
Issyl is all about the frozen wastelands and
starting another ice age and it’s only appropriate
that Nix is a part of that (Fun Fact: “Nix”
literally translates to “Snow” in Latin).
Nix is a Level 3 creature with
1000 power. Being one level above Lux doesn’t really
make it any less playable but it certainly keeps it
in range to be hit by Bone Blades, Return to Soil,
Tendril Grasp. Not to mention its low level of power
causes it to die to just about any removal spell out
there in this game (outside of comet missile and
such).
Nix reduces the cost of Dragons
that you play and the ability is pretty standard
among the rest of the birds and there’s not really
much else to say about it, except that it will stack
its effect and is amazing! His second ability,
Issyl’s Envoy, allows you to draw a card each time
you play a Dragon creature! Who needs cards like
Logos Scan anymore? Honestly, if Nix can draw you
two cards, he served as a Logos Scan with a body
that reduces your Dragons cost.
From personal experience, I
have had a couple Nix in the battle zone at once
before. Being able to draw two cards for each Dragon
is even crazier yet! I was well set up in one game
where I actually ended up having six birds in the
battle zone. Tatsurion the Unchained only cost 1
mana to play and I drew two cards… which I was able
to play as well and draw four more cards; needless
to say I won that game!
Nix doesn’t offer the extra
protection like Lux does but who says that Nix needs
to? Just run Lux alongside Nix and you’re good to
go! This card will also be seeing a ton of play so
be ready to have those Barrages/Tendril
Grasps/Dragons Breaths handy, ‘cause they may be
your only answer to stopping a relentless onslaught
of Dragons.
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.25/5.00
(The only thing that would guarantee Nix a perfect
score is if he had a giant laser beam shooting out
from his beak!)
Limited: 4.50/5.00 (Free
draw and reduced cost of your Dragons is a win in my
book.)
Stop back again tomorrow when
we turn to the Dark Side of the flame. Until next
time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and
game on!
