It’s Monday and we’re reviewing one of the most powerful and cutest cards in the entire set of DragonStrike Infernus! This little Chocobo knows a thing or two about wielding a shield and protecting all of those Dragons that you summon. Let me introduce you to your new best friend, Lux!

Name: Lux
Civilization:
Light
Type: Creature
Race:
Fire Bird
Level:
2
Power:
1500
Flavor Text: Lux sings a song of luminous new stars.
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number:   6/55 l 6DSI

Abilities:

Dragonsong – You tap 1 less mana card to summon Dragons.
Andromeda’s Envoy-
If one of your Dragons would be banished, you may banish this creature instead.

Lux is an amazing card when used in a deck that utilizes Dragons, outside of that it’s just an adorable card. Lux is a Level 2 Fire Bird with 1500 Power with two huge abilities. “Dragonsong” allows you to tap 1 less mana when summoning any Dragons and “Andromeda’s Envoy” offers Lux as a tribute to protect any one of your Dragons from being banished. Let’s take a deeper look into these abilities.

First of all Wizards of the Coast thought things through when making the Fire Bird cycle. They made sure that each one of the birds had 2000 power or less. This makes them susceptible to cards like Barrage and Dragon’s Breath as well as low level removal spells. Personally with the birds that I’ve been running, I’ve had the biggest issue with Tendril Grasp, although I still gain a benefit of extra mana, it can be a bit frustrating at times.

Now, being able to reduce the cost of all of your Dragons for 2 mana is something that should be considered if not mandated for Dragon users. It’s almost like playing this card for free in the long run especially when stacking the effects of the other birds with Lux! It is completely viable to bring out a Level 9 Dragon by turn five or six and after you have, Lux really begins to shine! (Fun Fact: “Lux” literally translates to “Light” in Latin)

Whenever one of your Dragons would be banished, in any way, you can instead banish Lux! Your Andromeda runs into a Terror Pit? No Problem! Sacrifice Lux and keep Andromeda in the battle zone! Your opponent has an Andromeda tapped in the battle zone too? No Problem! Run into it and sacrifice your Lux to keep yours alive! If your opponent has one of their own birds or equally weak creature, you can even have Lux run over it, and then run into an equally powerful Dragon with your own, sacrificing the already tapped Lux! Lux and Spellbane Dragon are very good friends as well! Even if your opponent hits a shield blast, you can ensure that your Spellbane will continue to be the bane of their existence! One last combo for all of you: If you happen to be running a deck with the Darkness and Light Civilizations and you happen to have a Lux or two in your discard pile, then why not play Dracothane of the Abyss? This way you can give yourself two free birds that can protect your newly summoned Triple Breaker while reducing the cost of all of your other Dragons!

Overall, Lux is an amazing card when paired with the Dragons from this set and some of the previous ones as well. I’m not going to say that it’s the best one, but if it’s not, it’s dang near close enough!

Ratings:

Constructed: 4.50/5.00 (This bird will definitely be seeing play in the upcoming Kaijudo Master Challenges, so be prepared to deal with it early in the game or you’ll get smacked around by his invincible shield! )

Limited: 5.00/5.00 (You want this bird in your limited pool. There are far too many dragons in this set and Lux allows you to abuse them in so many ways.)

Make sure to stop back again tomorrow when we continue our reviews of the Fire Birds! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!

Lux review:
I hope everyone had a great time trying out the new set out over the weekend. I know I did! Even though I scrubbed out my local, good news is though, I have found out my arch nemesis is top decked Gilaflame (happened 3 times throughout the tournament). But this week we are reviewing all of the Fire Birds! So lets get to it!

Lux
Cost 2
Light
Creature
Fire Bird
Power: 1500

Dragonsong — You tap 1 less mana card to summon Dragons.
Andromeda's Envoy— If one of your Dragons would be banished, you may banish this creature instead.
Alright with the birds this week I am not going to really get into the Dragonsong ability because we all know how powerful pulling out those big dragons earlier than they are supposed to is amazing. In fact this weekend I saw someone have 4 Fire Birds on the board and played Lyra AND Kindrix for only 4 mana, crazy.

Lux has been getting the most attention out of all the birds because of it's envoy ability. Protecting those big investment dragons is a great effect, however I think people have been extremly over hyping it. In fact although I scrubbed out this weekend everytime I played a deck focused on the fire birds and Andromeda etc. I 2-0'ed it. I wanted to prove that although these are powerful they are not the end all of decks this format. As with last format, how people were freaking out about Blurple and it being too powerful. This format is only a little over a week old people it's ok calm down.

Summary:
Lux is a great card, not many cards can answer that so early. The ability to protect your big dragon investment can be game breaking. However as more and more people begin using the fire birds people we start using decks to answer them that have a unversal use. Such as Heat Seekers.

Limited 4/5

Welcome back to the Kaijudo Card of the Day section. We begin the week looking at Lux from Dragonstrike Infernus. Lux is a level 2 light civilization monster with power of 1500. Lux has the ability Dragonsong, which let's you cast dragons for one less mana. Lux's other ability is Andromeda's Envoy, which says that if one of your dragons would be banished, you may banish this monster instead.

Lux is just a great card, as are most of the fire birds that aid the dragons. Lux allows you to get your dragons out for less, and can potentially protect one of your better dragons by sacrificing itself.

While the power isn't all that impressive, it is not meant to be an offensive creature so much as a supporter.

A really solid card.

Limited: 3/5
Constructed: 4/5
