I hope you enjoyed our preview
week of DragonStrike Infernus! Today marks the
official release of DragonStrike Infernus and
conveniently enough, the Ides of March; coincidence?
I think not! We close our week with one of the
strongest cards from the sixty card set: Andromeda
of the Citadel; let’s get started!
Name: Andromeda of the Citadel
Civilization: Light
Type:
Creature
Race: Celestial Dragon
Level: 9
Power: 11500
Flavor Text:
N/A
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S1/S5 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2
shields.)
Fortress of
Light- When this creature enters the battle
zone, put the top 2 cards of your deck into your
shield zone face down as new shields.
Awe Strike-
Whenever a creature attacks you, your opponent
chooses one of his or her untapped creatures in the
battle zone. Tap that creature.
Andromeda is a Dragon that is filled with awesome.
In fact I think it should have another ability
called “Awesomeness”. For a Level 9 creature, it
boasts an incredible 11500 power, only allowing a
select few creatures to be able to take it down in
battle. It doesn’t have Triple Breaker like some of
the other civilizations out there but its effect
easily makes up for that.
When Andromeda hits the battle
zone, you get two extra shields! Let’s not forget
that those shields also have the possibility of
giving you a shield blast which can be played for
free too! You can combo this card with another
Dragon in the set, Dragon of Reflections. When you
play Reflections, you get to add a shield to your
hand and then choose a card from there to place back
into your shield zone. This allows you more control
and versatility to getting those shield blasts off
more effectively.
One thing that I think some may
be concerned about when playing dragons is the time
it takes to get them into the battle zone. You end
up losing those valuable shields early game and by
the time you’re able to cast Andromeda, you’ve
almost lost the game. That’s where this ability
comes in handy; you get two free shields,
essentially taking away a couple of attacks from
your opponent from earlier in the game. If you
happen to run multiple Andromeda in a deck, you can
restock your shields with ease regardless of how
hard you were hit earlier in the game!
Andromeda’s Awe Strike ability
is a very control oriented effect that will often
keep you safe when your opponent controls more than
one creature. Much like Star Lantern (but without
the requirement of blocking), Andromeda’s Awe Strike
makes your opponent choose a creature to tap when
they attack. This keeps you safer as you have one
less attack coming your way or it could potentially
cause one of your opponent’s blockers to tap if
they’re limited on creatures. This can also set you
up so you can attack the creature that your opponent
had to tap in order to attack on your following
turn! It’s to my understanding (please correct me if
this is not the case) that if you only control one
creature, Andromeda’s Awe Strike ability won’t
activate since there is no target and it would
essentially “fizzle out,” so feel free to have a one
on one battle with Andromeda, however, I suggest you
bring in the big guns, ‘cause I don’t think Potato
Guns are going to get you there!
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.75/5.00 (An amazing card that’s only downside is its
level. You can always find ways around this though
by utilizing mana ramp cards or the fire birds.
Expect to see this card around, especially in decks
that currently use Cobalt; shield control has
officially become a thing!)
Limited: 4.75/5.00 (Free shields, a massive body, and an effect that
limits the amount of attacks that can go through in
a turn is amazing if you’re on the right end of
those effects. This is by far one of the best
dragons in the set and the entire game so far; if
you pull this in limited and get him out, I would
expect to win… unless your opponent got one too!)
That does it for this week guys
and girls! Make sure you stop by next week for some
more reviews! If you get a chance to, subscribe
and/or follow me on YouTube/Twitter @Raijinku and we
can discuss this set, the cards previewed and more
of your thoughts about combos and the future of the
meta! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel
Masters, keep calm and game on!
