Welcome back to our Friday
edition of the Card of the Day! We’re going out this
week with a bang… or should I say, “Kaboom!”! Puns
aside, we’ll be taking a closer look at this removal
spell for the Fire Civilization, let’s get started!
Name: Kaboom!
Civilization: Fire
Type:
Spell

Level: 7
Power: N/A
Flavor Text:
Dakar dreams of the day he’ll be promoted to
wrist gunner. Until then, he dutifully mans the toe
turret.
Rarity:
Rare
Set Number:
51/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Banish target enemy creature that has power 6000 or
less.
We have a Level 7 Fire
Civilization spell that can banish any creature as
long as it has 6000 power or less. Not too bad of an
effect but I’m really feeling that this is
underpowered. Fire has lots of low level removal in
the form of Heat Seekers and Rockbite and even
Barrage. This card allows Fire players to deal with
some bigger threats but at a much higher cost. One
of the more popular removal spells for Fire is
Tornado Flame and that is a Level 5 that gets rid of
a creature with 5000 or less…
and it’s a
shield blast!
I think this card could be so
much better if it was a shield blast or if it could
deal with something with 8000 power or less instead.
I suppose the biggest issue with that would be the
mass use of this card in just about every deck, kind
of like what people are doing with Terror Pit and/or
Root Trap in our current environment.
I highly doubt that we will see
this card played anytime soon in competitive decks
but it may find its way into some sealed events,
especially since Clash is a little bit slower of a
set.
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.50/5.00 (Having to hard cast a removal spell for
seven mana that won’t get rid of a big threat is a
little lackluster.)
Limited: 3.00/5.00 (This will be able to deal with most of your
opponent’s creatures up until turn seven, so this
could see some use in a limited environment.)
See you all again next week when we take a look at
more cards that are up for review! Until next time
my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game
on!
