Welcome back everyone to my
last Card of the Day review before my first ever
Kaijudo Master Challenge event this Saturday in
Oakmont, Pennsylvania! My original plan was to run a
deck with Aquans but it appears my roots are calling
to me, so expect to see some stuff I've used in the
past on my channel as well as some new things as
well. Speaking of which, I just uploaded a new video
to give an update about my channel, so make sure to
check out my link under my name for that! Alrighty,
let's get to today's card, Aqua-Ranger Commander.
Name: Aqua-Ranger
Commander
Civilization: Water
Type: Evolution Creature
Race: Aquan
Level: 5
Power: 7000
Flavor Text: "We may yet devise a strategy to
conquer our enemies."
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 17/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Evolution- Put on one of your Aquans.
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Tactical Expert- If this creature would be
banished, return it to your hand instead.
Every time I go to say this
cards name, I instinctively want to call him
Aqua-Ranger Commando... maybe someday I'll get it
right. This is the only Aquan Evolution card that we
currently have and it has a lot of potential to be
really good. Imagine playing a turn 4 Reef Scout,
drawing a card, and then the following turn you
evolve into this guy and attack two of your
opponent's shields without any issues. Oh? Did I
forget to mention that this guy can't be blocked?
All of those small blockers that your opponent
throws out at you to deter you from attacking are
just wasted space against the commander!
What makes this card even
better is that he has 7000 power. Lyra the Blazing
Sun might be able to tap him down, but won't be able
to take him down so easily. This is a great card for
sniping off your opponent's creatures as well... at
least until your opponent can find a Terror Pit or
Root Trap.
This card could see some
realistic play as a tech card in the
Light/Water/Dark control deck since most will run
three copies of Aqua Strider. Sometimes that's all
you need for this card to work... other people could
tech in Waterspout Gargoyle as well so you can
bounce two creatures and then evolve next turn to
freely break two shields. When we get more Aquan
support, I suspect that this card will see a lot
more play, but until then, this card will be tech if
anything and can combo really well in a deck that
utilizes it and Emperor Neuron. I like to call the
deck, "Torrent," since it embodies Water, it's
ability to rush, and it also uses Cyber Lords which
tend to download alot of information/files. I went
3-0 (6-1 in games) with the deck at my local duel
days even when playing against Dragons. I'll
actually be posting a deck profile later as well!
Anyways, give the card a try if you have the space,
it really can be a game changer!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.25/5.00
(There's not a ton of good evo-bait to choose from
but it can be a devastating turn five play against
your opponent since there's no stopping it's attack
from going through.)
Limited: 2.50/5.00 (You
need to get the evo-bait for this guy, otherwise
it's not worth running.)
Stop by again next week and I might pick out some
more themed cards or some other interesting tech
choices. Make sure to check out my updates for the
KMC this weekend via Twitter and later via YouTube.
I want to wish everyone the best of luck and can't
wait to meet all of you that will be attending the
Pennsylvania KMC! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
