Welcome back everyone to our Friday edition of Pojo’s Card of the Day and also to the official first day of summer!!! Today we’re taking a look at a card that adds some real support to a deck that lacked a competitive edge before Clash of the Duel Masters was released and with the summer season upon us, it only seems natural that we would get swarmed by bugs!  Megabugs finally have a chance to fly into your homes and local card shops with the addition of cards like Hive Queen and today’s card, Mana Tick.

Name: Mana Tick
Civilization:
Nature
Type: Creature
Race:
Megabug
Level:
3
Power:
1000
Flavor Text: “Somebody needs a serious flea collar.” -Allie
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 62/110 l 7CLA

Abilities:
Bug Buddy
- When this creature enters the battle zone, look at the top 4 cards of your deck. You may reveal a Megabug from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your deck in any order.

Mana Tick is a level 3 Megabug with 1000 power. This makes is an okay choice for Evolution bait but without any effect, this would be a poor choice for a level 3 slot. When you add in the “Bug Buddy” ability you give this card a reason to be played in threes. When it enters the battle zone you’re able to look at the top four cards of your deck, choose any Megabug from among them and add it to your hand. The rest of the cards go to the bottom of your deck in whatever order you choose. Boasting a very similar effect to Reef Prince Glu-Urrgle, this card is great for Megabug decks! It adds to the extra consistency of the deck as well as allowing you to gain more bugs to swarm the battle zone later down the line.

If you’re playing Megabugs you’re playing Hive Queen or at least you should be. Hive Queen is an Evolution creature that swings in right away and allows you to put any creature that’s level 5 or less into the battle zone from the top 3 cards of your deck when it attacks. This makes an excellent combo with Mana Tick if you can bring it out with Hive Queens ability. It just allows the cycle of searching through your deck for cards you need to continue all while you essentially are stacking your deck for later!

Outside of a Megabug deck, this card isn’t that great. For the devoted bug player though, this card is amazing and a huge boost that Megabugs needed to stand a chance at being competitive! Some people are already trying to make Megabugs work at the KMCs and their designs can only get better from here on out! So expect to see Mana Tick and his friends swarming the battle zone at a tournament near you!

Ratings:

Constructed: 4.00/5.00 (Any card at 3 cost that can create advantage and stay in the battle zone is pretty good and in a Megabug deck this card is essential to pull the strategy together.)

Limited: 2.50/5.00 (Unless you get passed a bunch of Megabugs this card will be a poor choice, however, if you actually do get passed or open a bunch of Megabugs, it’s a completely different story.)

Stop by again next week where we take a look at some cards that I have personally chosen!  Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
