Good morning, afternoon, or night! Glad to see that you’re back to check out another Card of the Day review! Today is pick number three out of my five favorite “Tech” cards. Let’s get started with Bat-Breath Scaradorable, shall we?

Bat-Breath Scaradorable is a Level 4 Chimera from the Darkness Civilization with 4,000 Power and ability entitled, “Fear Bats,” which states: “This creature can’t be attacked or blocked by creatures Level 5 or less. Four mana to bring out a 4,000 Power creature with an added ability that makes him difficult to deal with, seems pretty good right?

The ability to freely attack and not have to worry about your opponent’s creatures being able to even touch him is amazing. He kind of fits into the same niche that Emperor Neuron is in with being “Unblockable,” but without the actual text; not to mention he should generally have the “Unattackable” term stacked in there! Now I know he can still be blocked by bigger creatures and such but let’s be realistic, how many decks run blockers that are over Level 5? The only deck that comes to mind for me is one using the Light Civilization… and even then, they only have Grand Gure and Ra-Vu. So in most games you use him, he will be unblockable.

Now the ability to make it so he can’t be attacked by other creatures Level 5 or less is huge too! This means that he can keep swinging in there turn after turn until they get a huge creature out (that may need to sit around for a turn unless it’s an Evolution Creature). Seeing as you’re probably already running a decent amount of Darkness Civilization cards in your deck, that means that you’ll be able to easily deal with the threat of a bigger creature anyway. Most commonly played Evolution creatures can’t touch him either including: Emperor Neuron, Bronze-Arm Sabertooth, and Hydra Medusa (although Medusa can just destroy him with her effect, it still can never attack him head on).

The biggest issues that Bat-Breath Scaradorable is going to have are when playing against the Water or Darkness Civilization. In water your opponent is likely to have a good portion of cards that return cards back to your hand; this slows down the viability of B.B.S. I actually took him out of my main deck at one point because he was a little too slow for a Level 4, although, he is excellent in terms of controlling a game and I loved when I had multiple of him out on the field at a given time. It got even better when he was paired with an Essence Elf or two (if you decided to go that route). He also tends to die to a lot of cards such as: Bone Blades, Tornado Flame, Return to Soil, Terror Pit, and Root Trap.

One of my favorite plays to do with this card is to use him to snipe off my opponents weaker creatures after they attack, that way I can maintain advantage until I’m ready to start swinging at some shields! Let’s not forget that this card is also a Chimera, so that means you can easily run him in a deck that utilizes Hydra Medusa or Tekamora the Wretched on top of everything else! I expect with our next set release of “Dragonstrike Infernus” the game may slow down a little bit with the introduction of multi-colored cards. If it does, this card will definitely see some more play in the future.

Ratings:

Constructed: 4.00/5.00 (A great card that generally is only going to be taken down by offensive spells or late game powerhouse creatures. By the time that happens, you’ve already gotten a whiff or two of some bad bat-breath!)

Limited: 4.50/5.00 (In a limited environment, this card is a god. There probably aren’t a lot of limited spells that can banish this guy and larger creatures can be a rare site as well.)

Check back again tomorrow when we review a card that will help your opponent calm down and channel some of those more, aggressive tendencies. See you then!

Bat-Breath Scaradorable

We can quickly learn the lesson of not judging a book by its cover when we look at Bat-Breath Scaradorable. Though Squeaky is normally the cute and adorable Koala bear, she is capable of turning herself inside out and turning into a grotesque dog-like beast. Let's take a look before we end up as the targets of her fear bats!

Bat-Breath Scaradorable
Cost: 4
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Chimera
Power: 4000

Card Abilities:
Fear Bats - This creature can't be attacked or blocked by creatures that are level 5 or less.

Bat-Breath Scaradorable was a card that had completely defined the meta in the past, and that is definitely for a reason. Though it may no longer be as powerful as it once was, this is still a card that is incredibly powerful.

Bat-Breath Scaradorable comes out early and boasts a 1:1000 ratio on cost to power. That is pretty impressive on its own, but the real reason that this card is so good is because of its ability.

Bat-Breath Scaradorable can't be attacked or blocked by creatures that are level 5 or less, most blockers that are played in the competitive scene actually fall into that category. Bat-Breath Scaradorable can attack all she wants early game without too much fear of being counter attacked, or she can even be used to completely dominate your opponents turn 3 play; like that pesky Aqua Seneschal!

Another reason this card is so good is due to the fact it is a Chimera, being one of the best races is definitely a bonus when the card already dominates a 4-drop aggressive role.

Constructed Rating: 4/5

Hello again, Kaijudo duelists! I’m back with part three of our week of Super Rare reviews. Today’s card is the Darkness civilization Super Rare from Kaijudo’s Dojo Edition, and the first incarnation of Squeaky from the Kaijudo television series to be printed: Bat-Breath Scaradorable! As always, we’ll begin our review with a breakdown of the card’s stats.

Name: Bat-Breath Scaradorable
Civilization: Darkness
Race: Chimera
Cost: 4
Power: 4000
Ability: Fear Bats

This card is all kinds of cool. When it was first released, it was hyped up quite a bit, being all but unblockable at the time with the exception of Grand Gure, Tower Guardian. This is all thanks to its ability, Fear Bats, which states that this card cannot be attacked or blocked by creatures Level 5 or less. This allowed Bat-Breath to act as a sort of pseudo-finisher during it’s time in the spotlight, becoming very effective in the late game after all of your opponent’s early game removal was used up (i.e. Bone Blades). However, it fell off slightly when Rise of the Duel Masters was released and Tatsurion the Unchained was emerged as a viable counter to this card, as well as the increase in play of Tornado Flame (which was originally intended to deal with Hyperspeed Dragon, but ended up being useful in dealing with this card as well).

But now, in the Evo Fury meta, this card has found new life alongside it’s Chimera brethren, thanks in large part to the advent of Hydra Medusa. It’s still a very good card in its own right, however. It really gets a chance to shine in Blurple (Darkness/Water) decks, which have seen a huge spike in play thanks to cards like Hydra Medusa and Emperor Neuron. It puts on a lot of offensive pressure early game, and is just as effective in the late game as it was in the Dojo Edition days. Having an awesome Evolution like Hydra Medusa only serves to help this card’s case for why it deserves play in your decks that utilize Darkness.

Consider the current meta: the highest level blocker that currently sees any sort of competitive play is usually level 5 (Mother Virus being a prime example). Additionally, some of the most threatening offensive cards in the game right now are level 5 or less (Emperor Neuron, King Neptas, etc.), making this card very hard to kill with a creature. This makes Bat-Breath a prime candidate for aggressive decks that use Darkness, because with the exception of a spell or creature effect, this card probably isn’t going anywhere for a while once it hits board. And, should your opponent have a way to deal with this card, having a threat like this on board to bait out removal isn’t always a bad thing (that shouldn’t be your primary reason for using this card, however). It can sometimes be useful, however, to put a target on one creature’s back in order to help make the way to victory safer for your other creatures. Even with pure control’s increase in play as of late, which has led to an increase in play for Tornado Flame and Tatsurion the Unchained (again), Bat-Breath doesn’t have as much to fear because Blurple decks are very capable of out-pacing those decks, barring a few unfortunate triggers.

IN REVIEW
Rating (constructed):
4/5 – This card is still a very real threat. It has seen an increase in play thanks to the changes brought on by the advent of Evo Fury, namely a shift in the meta towards aggressive or tempo-control-type decks. It’s from a civilization with highly playable cards, its race is very valuable thanks to a great Evolution in Hydra Medusa (not to slight Tekamora in any way), and its effect is spectacular both early and late game. If you’re using Darkness and want to bring the pressure either early or late game, or are looking for some highly playable Evolution bait for your Mono-Darkness or Blurple decks, or any deck that uses Darkness, really, then this is certainly the card for you.
