Welcome to Wednesday’s Card of
the Day! Things appear to be heating up here with
the approaching release of the Dragon Master
Collection Kit next week and with good reason too!
Wizards delivers yet another great deal with the
inclusion of four booster packs, a box to carry your
cards in, a 20 card portfolio, and 6 Super Rare
Dragon cards, one of which we are reviewing today!
Say hello to, Hammer Dragon Foulbyrn:
Name: Hammer Dragon Foulbyrn

Type:
Creature
Race: Armored Dragon
Level: 7
Power: 6000

“Blast him out of the sky!” -Alakshmi
Rarity:
Super Rare

2/2 l 5DRA
Abilities:
Double
Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Draconic Roar-
Whenever this creature attacks, reveal the top card
of your deck. If it’s a non-evolution Dragon, put it
into the battle zone. Otherwise, put it on the
bottom of your deck.
Seeing this card, I already
have a deck idea in mind and I’m going to call it,
“Dragon Spell”! The basic concept is to abuse this
card and all of your dragons that have ETB
abilities. How do you do that? EVERY CARD IN YOUR
DECK IS A DRAGON!!! You’re sure to get off those
amazing abilities of your dragons this way although
it may be a little slow, so it could include a few
other support creatures that reduce the cost of your
Dragons. You heard it here first my fellow Kaijudo
Masters and Pojoites, once I make the deck I will be
sure to post it to my channel as well as matches so
stay tuned!
So I already have a little hype
going for this card and for good reason; first of
all, let’s break this guy down a little bit first
shall we? 6000 Power for a Level 7 is a little
underpowered, especially for the Fire Civilization;
however, he is an Armored Dragon which opens up
support for Evo Fury Tatsurion or Hyperspeed Dragon.
He has your standard “Double Breaker” ability;
overall pretty basic.
His effect is what makes him
good as it does for most cards. Foulbyrn really
shines in a Dragon focused deck and can get you free
cards for just attacking. Odds are your opponent
will want to block this guy since he will be
breaking two shields, so he’s already providing you
with advantage. On top of that this guy can
potentially summon another Dragon immediately after
his attack is declared; it almost reminds me of a
Fire Civilization version of Emperor Neuron, sort
of. Imagine revealing a Bolt-Tail Dragon and being
able to attack right away! You could bring out a
Hyperspeed Dragon and it could attack as well since
you now meet his abilities’ requirements! You could
even bring out yesterday’s Card of the Day,
Necrodragon of Vile Ichor! The options are endless!
So obviously this guy can be a
little slow to get out and is susceptible to
destruction, but in a devoted Dragon deck, this card
very well could become a staple card in the deck.
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.75/5.00 (In my Dragon Spell deck this would probably
be a 4.50/5.00 but there’s still so much to be
revealed about the set. He is definitely worth
considering and can easily get you big dragons in
the battle zone for free or he can reveal a spell
with his ability… We’ll see soon enough!)
Limited: 1.75/5.00 (It really depends on what Limited Format you run
him in… if you do a sealed event with the Dragon
Master Collection Kit, it becomes a little better,
but there aren’t a ton of dragons out as of right
now in Limited that you could easily gain access to.
If this was included in Dragonstrike Infernus, the
rating would be much higher due to the whole set
focusing on dragons!)
Stop back tomorrow when we
delve back into our preview section of Dragonstrike
Infernus with a Dragon that boasts one of the
strongest effects in the game to date! See you then!
