Welcome back everybody! I
recently got some exciting news from Wizards of the
Coast that I wanted to share with you! I have
received not one, but
TWO
preview cards to review for all of you Kaijudo fans
and Pojoites! I will be reviewing them in detail on
Friday, so make sure to stop by my channel (there’s
a link under my username to the left) to see what
goodies I have in store for all of you (all thanks
to WOTC of course). Today’s card is another card I
see float around in people’s decks frequently. If
it’s not in their deck currently, they’ve probably
considered it multiple times. I’ll get into that a
little more later. Today’s card is Barrage; let’s
get started!
Name:
Barrage
Civilization: Fire
Type:
Spell
Race: N/A
Level: 6
Power: N/A
Flavor Text:
“All guns load shrapnel! Fire!” –Blastforge
captain
Rarity:
Uncommon
Set Number:
101/165 l 3RIS
Abilities:
Shield
Blast (Instead of putting this spell into your
hand from a broken shield, you may cast it for
free.)
Banish all enemy creatures that have power 2000 or
less.
A six cost spell that wipes
your opponent’s side of the battle zone of all
creatures with 2000 or less power, that seems really
good! It’s a shield blast too?! This card can deal
with a ton of cards but often times it all depends
on your match-up and what kind of deck you’re
playing against. If you’re playing against the Light
or Nature (on occasion) Civilizations, they’re more
likely to have bigger creatures in the battle zone
and will be unaffected by such a spell. If you use
this card against decks like Drakon Rush, Blurple,
or other decks that spam out little birdies, then
this card can be amazing if not ridiculous at times.
Since there’s no limit to what
this card can banish, it generally has the
upper-hand on “Dragon’s Breath” but you’ll have
people argue for days that the 3000 power selection
is better in the long run; I say, test it and see
for yourself which one you like better.
Being able to get rid of two
cards or more with one card is a great advantage and
this card can do that quite easily. If only it were
a little bit cheaper to play, then you wouldn’t have
to completely rely on it being in your shields to
deal with Rush decks. Generally by turn six you may
barely be holding on by a shield if your opponent
has been attacking every turn leading up to that.
Needless to say, Barrage is a
great card that can be a great defensive and
offensive card. I would definitely expect to see
this floating around in decks to deal with the decks
mentioned earlier. So if you’re playing one of those
decks mentioned, maybe it’s about time to tech in
those Essence Elves?
Ratings:
Constructed:
3.50/5.00 (At times it can be a dead card,
however, it’s great as a shield blast as it can give
you mass removal of birds, rush, and blurple
targets.)
Limited:
4.00/5.00 (Plenty of targets to hit in 3RIS with
this card. Anything that can give you advantage is
worth running or at least considering for your
deck.)
Hope to see you guys tomorrow!
