Horus Master lv8
No!!!  Man only about three weeks until school begins ;(....Well today we review a very good card if I do say so myself

Let's take a peek into....Hopeless Vortex

Name: Hopeless Vortex
Cost: 5
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Spell
Rules Text:
Destroy one of your opponent's creatures.
Flavor Text:
"How do you know you won't like excruciating pain? Have you ever tried it?" -Crath Lade, Merciless King
Mana Number: 1
Artist: Shishizaru
Rarity: R
Collector Number: 29
This is straight from WotC site

Now on to the review...

Cost: 5..Now this is a great cost...as there isn't very many 5 drops that I can think of off the top of my head...Maybe Corile....Chaos Worm..and well that is about all I can think of LOL..So 5 cost is great..

Civilization: Darkness...right there it spells destruction (well okay it doesn't spell destruction but it is a figure of speech people)...This is another card along the line of Darkness cards that can destroy opponent's creatures..and that is always good.

Effect: This is awesome...A miniature Terror Pit!!!  Other than the fact that it isn't a Shield Trigger it does have one less mana cost..This, in my opinion, beats Death Smoke anyday...Just for the fact that it can kill and opponent's tapped creature.  Now just try to remember the number of times that  you had a death smoke ready to use on your opponent when they summoned a creature and all of a sudden, they summon Aqua Guard and then Evo it into a Lancer/Paladin...of course I mean that they would summon a creature and evo it on the same turn...Then they attack your shield/creature...Well we now know what we will probably put in mana next turn now don't we....

Rating:
Constructed: 4/5 This card is simply amazing..
Limited: 4.5/5 Even better he for the fact that you can win games if you keep field control
Overall: 4.25/5
Flavor Text: 3.5/5  That is funny,....expecially since I know what he is refering to as I am a picky eater xD
Art: 3/5 Nothing that I can make out from the picture on the Wizards Database, and I don't have one yet.

Hopeless Vortex
Type: Spell
Civilization: Darkness
Mana Cost: Five (5)
Rules Text:
Destroy one of your opponent’s creatures.
Flavor Text:
"How do you know you won't like excruciating pain? Have you ever tried it?" -Crath Lade, Merciless King
Rarity: Rare
Set: Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction

Hopeless Vortex is one of the few cards in Duel Masters that can kill any opposing creature without restriction or drawback. It’s best when taking out the big guns or any small threats that are Evo-bait or Cyber Lords. Vortex really benefits from mana acceleration so you can knock out anything as early as turn four.

Five mana is the perfect price when you consider that it has the same effect as Terror Pit except without Shield Trigger. Not a whole lot of other Darkness stuff costs five mana. Vortex does share the same spot with Water cards though like Corile and Merfolk, and Darkness/Water often go together. There’s not much to say about this card because of the simplicity of its effect.

Limited: 5/5
Good creature kill is hard to come by in the limited format. Hopeless Vortex should be one of the top-5 cards that you go after when drafting. Abuse the heck out of this if you can snag one or two.

Constructed: 4/5
Creature kill is more readily available in constructed, which lowers its score some. The general consensus seems to be that Vortex is better than Death Smoke but a notch below Terror Pit in usefulness. A solid card all around.
