FUNimation Season 3.... by: ssj4gokuh

FUNimation is pretty much a household name to all people who watch Dragonball Z. That does not mean that we all have the same feelings towards them. So, now here comes the question of were exactly does FUNimation stand with the people going into season 3. Let us first go into my look at this whole situation.

Actually I have to say that I have only caught two of the new episode's on TV. I have however been buying the tapes. So where has FUNimation gone wrong. Well first off of course is the voices. Well the majority of the actors are alright there are those couple that are terrible. When I say a couple I am referring to Kuririn and Gohan. Kuririn's voice is the worst voice I have ever heard. In my opinion the voice actor from season 2 was pretty good. So now why in FUNimation's quest to get new voice actors did they not get similar voices. In Kuririn's instance they FUNimation said that no matter how hard they tried they could not get a similar voice. Is FUNimation just getting cheap with the fans though. Could FUNimation feel that whatever they place on TV people will come to love and even if they don't they will just find new fans to replace them.

The fight against FUNimation has been quite a long one, but also exciting. Look at some of the stuff that the fans have accomplished. A subtitled version of DBZ on DVD will be coming out soon. Also Sega Dreamcast will be coming out with a DBZ game in the near future. These are probably our two biggest accomplishments. Getting season three on TV was a success along with FUNimation finally making "uncut" videos. Another big one is that FUNimation will be completing DBZ and are looking at Dragonball and Dragonball GT. There has been bad though and one of the hardest hits was the crack down on fansub distribution's out there thanks to FUNimation and Brian Real ( I will get into that a little later).

Now as most of you know Season three will be carrying us through the whole of the Freeza saga and through the Garlic Jr. saga. This is a pretty6 big chunk of episodes. It took way to long for Season 3 to get on TV and because of that the fans are expecting big. Is this do or die for FUNimation. Of course even if season 3 does turn out to stink FUNimation will still have all the fanboy's who think that the only DBZ is the American version, but all do not. FUNimation could loose a lot of fans who have stuck by FUNimation and supported them for bringing over such a great show.

Have people hurt what everyone has been working for though. You can say yes. Expressing your opinion is a great thing and everyone should be heard. How should you express those opinion's though. If you want to write FUNimation and tell them what you would like to see and how DBZ could be made better then more power to you. Just follow these few tips, below I am going to give you the right and the wrong way to e-mail FUNimation.

The Right Way

Dear FUNimation,
I appreciate the effort you have put towards Dragonball Z, why are the voice actors less than standard.

The Wrong Way

Which of the following would you be more eager to respond to with a quality answer? Trying to work out a problem will always work before criticizing someone. So yes I do have hope for season three. The Freeza saga is probably one of the best saga's in all of DBZ and it will be interesting to see how FUNimation handle's it. So now I do not want to bore you, but there are a few other topics I want to touch or further elaborate on.

First off what is the best thing that FUNimation could do without getting sued? Well that would be to get the original music soundtrack (next would be to dub the rest of the movies, but I won't go into that at this time). As we all know the original music is the best. So why doesn't FUNimation get it. Well they feel that the Chala-head-Chala intro is to long and will not keep or catch the interest of children. They could at least get the Zenkai Power for the end of the show. Instead they went with "Rock the Dragon", do they really need some flashy, macho, and rock based theme song? No, but whatever they think will catch people's attention. One other thing that FUNimation claims is that the reason they do not play the Japanese music background is because people like to hear a consistent background music. So when it comes to reason's FUNimation has some pretty bad one's.

I was going to touch on what Brian Real? did a while back, but I guess I will keep my mouth shut and not get involved.

So concerning the television aspect of DBZ it seems as though FUNimation is worried to much about the fans they could get then the fans they do have. Don't take it wrong because I do commend FUNimation on a job pretty well done...... for now that is.
