The goal of the deck is to win by Survival Victory. I use Vinegar's unstoppable power and keep adding modifiers of damage to it. I also throw in a lot of defense because I tend to use a "hit 'n run" type of approach to winning. I figure If I put in anti DB, anti ally, anti anger, all I have to worry about is the opponent winning by Survival (not worried much about Dragon's Victory) So in a sense, if I can hit them with an unstoppable energy attack and then go on the defensive for the most of the game, I can win. Also with this much defense, I don't really have to worry much about Cosmic Backlash either.

I was obviously the only one there who cared enough to write a tournament report, so here it goes.

This is more in the fashion of a journal than a report. It has information leading up to the tournament and after as well as the actual events. So bare with me on this.

LOG: 5-9-02
TIME: 3:15 PM
-I just got home from school and am waiting for my friend who is giving me a ride to Philly. His name is Justin(EAGLE27891). We are also taking a friend named
James(Redfest). Coming from washington, Pa it's a 6-7 hour car ride to Philly. Wish us Luck!

PS. we all wish a happy B-day to IQ's daughter!

TIME: 3:23 PM
-I just remembered to pick up a very important item to me. A bottlecap! Here's the story... Just before the cell games prerelease a bunch of us bought a Jones
Soda. Under the caps are written messages. Another friend of mine, Phil(Caped Crusader) had a bottlecap that said something like "you will be proud of someone close to you." We all took it to mean that Phil wasn't going to win. I revealed my cap to say" good fortune will soon find you." We then knew what it meant. I was gonna win the prerelease. But when I didn't win, we realized something was up(that the bottlecap wasnt't true never crossed our minds). I now believe it to mean that I am going to win my regionals. The kicker is this: Phil's last name begins with an "E".
HIS NAME: PHIL E.
THE PLACE: PHILLY

TIME: 3:50 PM
- It began to rain , so I made a suit out of a garbage
bag to wear.

TIME: 5:34 PM
-Eagle found out about my log and made fun of it. Then
threatened to rip it up if I keep ignoring him like
this.

TIME: 5:45 PM
- Started playing Super Smash Bros. Meelee in the car.

TIME: 6:45 PM
- stopped playing smash.

TIME: 7:14 PM
-stopped at "Bob's Big Boy" and had a hotdog. While
walking out of the place, we saw 2 birds doing the
nasty on the roof. Laughed...

TIME: 12:00 AM
Arrived at place of sleeping....sleep....now...good...

LOG: 5-10-02
TIME: 10:21 AM
-left for a brief train ride into Philly. Directly into the PA Convention Center.

TIME: 12:19 PM
-we finally found the score booth after checking out the convention area(found the porn shack first )  Dave was sitting there and didn't have his deck on him so he couldn't gunsling. Damn!

TIME: 4:53 PM
-been bullshitting with eckhard for the last few hours and staring at chicks walking by. There was a guy in a big plantane outfit who fought and giant cactus dude. It was awesome! (www.Kaiju.com)
Bill D. (Hawk51855) eventually showed up just after Dave described how he became addicted to cigarettes. Eventually left the area and went home for the night.

LOG: 5-11-02
TIME: 9:50 AM
- got into the tournament arena and just sat there for a while after filling out confusing paperwork. My player number is 21. The tournament should be starting soon.

TIME: 10:10 AM
- tournament begins!

ROUND1: ORANGE VINEGAR(ME) VS GOKU SAIYAN(AARON
PORTER)
- the deck had a good premise, but didnt seem to have all the nugs fixed out of it yet. The guy got out a goku's Farewell around turn 2 and I was becoming frightened by what this deck may actually be capable of doing.  He kept getting me with his mastery and lowering my
powerstages. I was able to remove his Gokus Farewell before he used it with an orange destruction drill. He eventually started to gain on me and got a 10 life card physical attack on me which I Frieza is Ready-ed him back for 20 and the win.

RECORD:1-0
-I check in with my friends and find out that they all did equally as well as me. Im relieved that I weasn't smashed the way I thought I would be.  The pairings are called and the new round begins.

ROUND 2: ORANGE VINEGAR VS ORANGE 19(PERISH)
- Holy carp this game was close. We were hitting each other left and right with damage and removing stuff with our Orange staredowns. I played down a winter countryside and it was removed by a gravity chamber 3 turns later by Perish. On the next turn he hit me with an Aura Clash. This is when I felt a trickling down my leg. I figured I was doomed until I remembered that I played a Ginyu Frog in the deck. The next turn I lay down another winter countryside(if only that was the turn before )
We go into a combat leter in the game and he discards my ginyu frog with an energy attack! NOOOO! But thank goodness I pulled my Dende Dragonball 7 and was able to regenerate it to the top of my life deck! I drew it next turn and entered combat...praying he didnt have a sphere. I played the ginyu frog down and he thought I targeted him. I told him I was targeting myself and I got back down to my level 1 personality. Later in the match he hit my A-19s distress with an orange stredown instead of the Foreboding Evidence that I had in play. That was his big mistake. I was able to regenerate and kept pounding away at him for the win!

RECORD:2-0
I was able to talk to some other friends of mine who
had come from washington, Carl and Will. They seemed
to be doing pretty good themselves. 5 people
representing little ole' washington, PA!
Dave said the word food. That would be my prize after
the next round. M-m-m-m-m-m...

ROUND 3: ORANGE VINEGAR VS KING COLD ANGER(LIPTON
SCOTT)
- way to use the regionals character to your advantage. If you cant think of anything else to do with him, throw him in an anger deck! My friend Carl had played this guy just before and lost because he forgot King Cold was at his level 3 and he didn't use his Cell's Threatening Position yet. Bad mistake. I went into this battle remembering what Carl said "Dont
be greedy." Oddly enough, that exact same situation occured that Carl had talked about , but this time I followed through. Hit him with the CTP and got him
back to level 1. He was able to gain enough anger to get back to level 2 , but I stole his Namek Dragonball 2 off of him and lowered him back down to his level 1 personality. That was pretty much it. My advise, dont play the namek Dragonballs in an anger deck.

RECORD: 3-0
We recieved out Black Lunge promo pack and off to
lunch we went. I grabbed a H-U-G-E hotdog and sat down
with my friends to eat. So far, all of my friends were
2-1 and I was the only one undefeated. Hawk was even
complimenting me. But mor eimportant things were
coming....round 4!

ROUND 4: ORANGE VINEGAR VS BLACK A-17(DANE FALLON)
-At the beginning of the game i was able to catch him
on the mastery/tokui-waza rule and he couldnt use his
mastery or the benefits of the tokui - waza. Him only
powering up 1 and not getting off those huge attacks
really weakened his deck. Nothing much more out of the
ordinary happened during this match.

RECORD: 4-0
-ok, I was getting freaked...I was sill undefeated and
couldnt believe it. I thought to myself, "all i need
is one more win and I'll automatically be in the top
16!"

ROUND 5: ORANGE VINEGAR VS ORANGE VINEGAR(ROB ANDRUS)
- oh for petes sake! This deck was just about a carbon
copy of my own. The only real difference was he played
more aggressively that my deck did. His deck played a
lot more energy attacks than my own. He was able to
get his drills out and keep them out better than i was
able to.....DRILLS = BAD.....

RECORD: 4-1
-I wanted to get this thing over with as soon as
possible because I was growing weary of what might
happen next. Couldnt wait for the next round to begin.
That was, until I found out who I was to play
against....

ROUND 6 ORANGE VINEGAR VS BLUE KING COLD ALLY(CARL
ROBISON)
- Oh no! I had to play against one of my friends!
Carl! I was able to beat this deck of his before at
our local card shop. But I wasnt sure if I would be
able to this time. Carl was already garaunteed a spot
in the top 16 so I tried to persuade him to let me
win, so I could go to. But he was playing to beat me
on behalf of his best bud, Will. If will pulled off a
victory in this round and Carl won, Will would be able
to go to the top 16 and I would still have a chance
during tie breakers. Well anyway, onto the game. This
game went back and forth for the whole match. We were
always doing life cards of damage to each other. He
got out a gravity chamber and would lower himself with
physical attacks to get to his
allies...SAIBAIMEN!!!!!! arg!!!!!! Vinegars
weakness!!!.... We kept a very balanced game going
until I started to pull ahead near the end of the
match. But eventually he was able to Foreboding
Evidence back about half of his life deck when i was
able to only do about a quarter of my life deck back.
Carl Ended up winning.

RECORD: 4-2
- The 6 rounds of swiss were over and I ended up with
a record of 4-2!!! This was definately not very good.
I owuld have to go into the tie breaker series.
howerver the hell that works. I was holding my
bottlecap close and praying to get into the top 16. I
hear my friend Carl called, then my friend
James....and eventually ME!!!!
WAAAHOOOO!!!! I made it into the top 16! i was so
happy and proud of myself and james and Carl as well!
We recieved our victorious and they took us into a
seperate room for the top 16 battle to take place.

THE TOP 16

They paired up the players and I was ready to begin!

GAME 1: BATTLE FOR THE TOP 8!
ORANEG VINEGAR VS ORANEG FRIEZA ALLY(JOHN CONBERE)
- He was using the frieza level 1 UR in his
deck...This thing was obviusly revolved around
beatdown...I thought, until he was able to pull out
about 4 allies and started to beat me around like a
rag doll! I fought this one to the last bit of my
energy. This truly was the toughest match of the top
16 duels. I eventually was able to beat him down into
submission when I had only 1 life card left!!! That
was close....Everybody oooed and ahhhed due to the
fact that I beat him by one life card.

THE TOP 8

My friend Carl wasn't able to make it to the top 8 and
I felt so sorry for him. I honestly thought he was
going to win it all. Then I find out who my next
opponent is...James Redd! My friend I rode to Philly
with. Hakw took some picture of us because he knew us
well and knew we were good friends that had to play
each other for the top 4...

GAME 2: BATTLE FOR THE TOP 4!
ORANGE VINEGAR VS RED GOHAN ANGER(JAMES REDD)
- I went into this game believing that I was going to
loose bad. I have always been weak to anger decks and
I only had to play that one in swiss that I got
extremely lucky against. So I had no proof as to
whether I could defeat his deck or not. I was worried.
BUt things started to look good when I was able to
pull off a Kami Fades on him early in the game. I
removed all of hi Dballs except for one he actually
had in his hand! Earth 4!
He was able to reach up to his level 4 before i was
able to draw my CTP against him. (afterwards he would
testify that he drew a TES the next turn)
After that he wasnt able to get back up high enough
before i was able to defeat him with my unstoppable
energy attack.

THE TOP 4
- I was the only person in my group to move on into
the next round. I knew of 3 vinegar decks that made it
into the top 16. The other two were already defeated
by now and I was going on to fight for the finals.

GAME 3: THE FIGHT FOR THE FINALS
ORANGE VINEGAR VS BLUE NAIL(JAMES MARION)
- I could see the fear in this kids eyes. I went into
the game and was able to draw a dan drill early. I dan
drilled his deck and ran across an aura clash. had to
get rid of it. After that he became very unwilling to
continue, claiming that was his only defense against
vinegar. I eventually pulled off the win with my
unstoppable energy attack.

THE FINALS
- ok, it didnt sink in that i was in the finals for a
while. I was at least garaunteed 100 bucks and half a
box of cell games! I was so thrilled. Everyone
gathered around for the best of 3 game against my
opponent, Dustin Morabito.....

ROUND 1: ORANGE VINEGAR VS A-18 NON TK ALLY
BEATDOWN(DUSTIN MORABITO)
- I've heard of this guy before. Heard of him winning
that canadian regionals. I was my states last
competitor. I wasn't about to let the title go to
someone from somewhere else!
I went into the game with high hopes and was able to
get somewhere until he brought out his allies that is.
The came pretty quick too. He was able to get out
Nappa and the like( ) and i went down extremely
quickly.

0-1

ROUND 2:
- ok this time he was able to get out maybe about 75 %
of his allies before I got out my Gohan Spots the
imposter drill. He always seemed to have a sphere when
he needed one and always two of 'em! I also got out a
Orange Haulting Drill as well. Later in the game he
would hit me would hit me with physical attacks and i
would forget to apply haulting drill(chippy, why didnt
you say anything?)
then he lays down an A-20. This bad boy caused me the
game. Energy attack for about 9 life cards...ewwww. He
later tried to use a piccolo and heros gather without
a hand...but we caught him on that one!
But eventually he was able to foreboding evidence back
about 24 life cards....the he hit me for 13 life cards
and i frieza is readied him for 26!
he eventually was able to pull of the victory agianst
me.

Well, I lost the regionals but I was so happy to have
placed so high in my first regionals event. A
tournament of this magnitude really tested my skills
and I was able to prove to myself that I am capable of
being a higher players than I thought.

Now for some Props and Slops
Props to EAGLES mom for giving us all a ride out there
and putting up with us the whole way! Props to
Hawk51885 for volunteering to help Dave judge the
tournament and for being an all around cool guy. Props
to Dave Eckhard for being a bitchin judge and for
all the memorable mannerisms and catch phrases
Wigglytuff suxor!
Props to James Redd for being the only anger deck to
make it into the top 16. There hasnt been many around
man. Props to Will and Carl for being so friendly
towards us punks and congrats to Carl for making the
top 14 while playing King Cold.
And last but not least, props to all the opponents I
faced during the tournament. You guys put up one hell
of a fight! Each and every one of you!
Slops to myself for playing my Vinegar deck. Everyone
thought he was dead in Cell Games. Ive stuck with
this damn deck since trunks saga and I probably will
for a very long time. Slops to Chippy for not bringing
his deck for gunslingingthat woulda been fun man!

All around I had a great time at the PA Regionals. I
walked away with half a box of CG and $100. The
convention center itself was amazing. With its great
design and amazing architecture. The vendors at the
convention were awesome as well. We learned how to
play Hero Clix at the Marvel stand and its very fun
game to play.

Oh I almost forgot! Props to all you guys who read
this report!!
Thanks
